I hate to be Nancy Negative but imo we will only see an increase in child abuse. Our world is crazy. The stress factors of eking out a living for many leads to addiction, as a form of escape. Once a person is addicted & the physiology of his brain isn’t what it was, nothing matters, only where & how fast to get more drugs. We don’t know the extent of addiction in this case, some hope they withdrawal without medical intervention. I don’t think that will happen, the jail would be liable for ignoring their medical needs. Withdrawal can be deadly.
I want them facing life sentences, not dead.

We should all know the provisions of the law as it pertains to spanking and hitting a child with a belt. It is not necessarily illegal to hit a child with a belt (below the waist) and defend oneslef with the right defense strategy if charged with battery. So AJ telling that he was hit with a belt may not have piqued that doctor's sense of abuse if the doctor believes that hitting with a belt is within reason. This page by a defense lawyer gives a sense of how a parent can defend themselves if they hit their child and are arrested. Can I Spank my Child?
 
I so wanted to believe that report that she was a foster parent was a mistake, but the memo from DCFS seems quite clear.

Interesting to note the complaint that she was neglecting the foster child came in the middle of her divorce case while she was still married to CS. They did not have any children together.

I feel like I missed something significant. Why are JC's last 3 charges (counts 10-12) from March 4th? All state causing great bodily harm to AJ. Was he severely injured for over a month before?

She states she is the parent of a friend of the older brother and knows grandmother who had the oldest son. For my own self, I wish the money was going to the funeral home with the excess going to a bank managed trust fund for education or therapy or services needed by the youngest. Just always makes me nervous that those who get the child get the funds....not a good recipe in my book.

If I recall correctly, AJ was placed with a cousin for the first two years. The family may be great but I am worried about a family placement for this little boy. How can we know that he will be safe?

No, there are studies that show deaths while under CPS
services.
I would like to see as well.

I would like to know how many kids are under CPS per state. That would determine, what the potential cost would be IF all these kids were placed in protective custody. I feel some political/law decisions are based on these numbers, we may not have them but I'm sureeach state does. We can't change the law, if we can't pay for it.

The Crystal Lake Police Department released reports detailing what they call "unacceptable" living conditions along with alleged drug abuse and concerns the Department of Children and Family Services had for the children's welfare.   • Police said, “In reviewing all investigative information thus far, there is no indication that would lead police to believe that an abduction had taken place.” They also said: “Information obtained currently has police focusing on the residence.”
  • Canine teams that were used during the investigation “only picked up AJ’s scent within the residence indicating that Andrew had not walked away on foot”

It is easy to see that the one person under their control and responsible (in their twisted minds and eyes) for all of the trouble is AJ. He must have made them very mad when he said that he had gotten hit with the belt and talked to authorities. He never had a chance. So hard to read this as a compilation of their despicable lives.
 
I know earluer I suggested opiates or opioid abuse & some disputed, thinking she gravitated towards meth. After working with drug court, one look at her screamed Ops’ to me.
If true she runs in arms, legs, feet (maybe other areas) she’s got a big problem. Idk if the jail has an infirmary, but I will not be surprised if she ends up hospitalized.

Thank you and I agree with your concerns.I do not know the laws in IL. Do you know a starting point to get these "friends & family" vetted? I mean really put through a thorough vetting!
