I was thinking the same. I think what led to his death was more than being placed in a cold shower for an extended period of time. Poor baby! So many people would have loved him and given him a wonderful home. The 20 yo brother, Jeremiah, was charged with "aggravated battery"...doesn't that mean he used some type of weapon? IMHO, there was more going on than just putting this child in a cold shower (although that was torture enough). And what did the 16 yo sibling do? God, this breaks my heart.
Maybe a prolonged cold shower would snap her back to life.Mother charged with killing son Damari Perry hospitalized, delaying her initial court appearance
Jannie Perry was also scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday but did not appear. She also did not appear in Monday morning bond court.
North Chicago police say she was taken to the hospital on Saturday after complaining that she was ill.

Her FB shows her as being self-employed. I'm wondering the skill-set required to provide for 7 children? SMHRSBM
So, 8 years ago ( 2014) would have made the two other arrested siblings of Damari 12 years old and 8 years old at the time. They had been removed, and then returned to "Momma".
Children learn what they live....
They sit in jail, face court and prison. A record to follow. Because " Momma".
smh
That sweet child. Why!?

Damari Perry: Chicago mom accused of killing son, 6, with freezing shower held on $5 million bond
Everytime I'm firmly against the death penalty, a case like this comes along and I'm right back on the fence.Sweet little Damari's short, painful life may actually help some of his surviving siblings. At least they won't be around their "mother" if she is found guilty, and perhaps his older siblings will see the horror that cruelty to little children can do -- and the punishment for it if caught, tried and convicted.
So his little life was not in vain. That's all I can get in this case that may be a plus -- other than, I am hoping, life sentences for his torturers and those who hid him like his sweet body was a bag of trash.
Fly high sweet boy Damari.
I want to know the whole truth. This isn't the only time this little boy was abused. Just as forced medical castration has been talked about as an option to deal with pedos, sometimes I think forced sterilization makes sense.Sorry so late! RL catches up with us fast.
I looked on the Court Clerk Site, and thisis all I could find regarding Jeremiah on 2/1/22:

I found this article today, which states that both Jeremiah and Jannie (Momma) will appear in court on Feb 7th.
State’s Attorney’s Office Formally Charges Mother and Brother for “Brutal and Heinous” Murder of Damari Perry
"(Lake County, IL) – The day after 6-year-old Damari Perry was laid to rest, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office on Wednesday filed a 19-count indictment against his mother and brother, charging both with first-degree murder in the child’s death.
"Prosecutors filed the murder charges in a way that allows them to seek natural-life sentences against Damari’s mother, Jannie Perry, 38, and brother, Jeremiah Perry, 20, for the killing.
Jannie and Jeremiah Perry were jointly indicted by a Lake County Grand Jury on eight counts of murder, and additional counts of: aggravated battery of a child, dismembering a human body, conspiracy, aggravated domestic battery, concealment of a homicidal death, endangering the life or health of a child, abuse of a corpse, and each was also charged with obstructing justice.
Jannie Perry was also indicted on one count of failure to report the death or disappearance of a child under 13 years of age.
"Prosecutors have stated that the evidence shows that Jannie and Jeremiah Perry formulated and enacted a plan to severely punish Damari through prolonged exposure in a cold shower.
The grand jury found evidence that the murder was “exceptionally brutal and heinous,” which allows prosecutors to seek natural-life sentences on the murder charges for each of the defendants. The charge of dismembering a human body arose from evidence that the family burned Damari’s remains after his death. Prosecutors indicated that they may seek up to 60 years in prison for the dismembering charge alone. "
"Jannie and Jeremiah Perry are set to appear in court on Feb. 7 to be arraigned on the charges. Chief of Felony Review Steve Scheller and Chief of Juvenile Justice Karen Levi as well as Assistant States Attorney Russell Caskey have been assigned to prosecute the case. "
