IL - July 4 Parade, Highland Park, at least 6 fatally shot, 4 July 2022 *son charged, dad guilty*

From the article:
The eerie videos show 21-year-old Robert Crimo's gaming avatar standing on rooftops and shooting down his opponents in a game of Call of Duty.
n the video game posts, gun shots can be heard ringing out while players are heard laughing, yelling and directing one another. It's unclear which voice is Crimo's.

Very interesting article. Talks about both sides of the argument on gaming and violence and shooters. Of course, studies say there is no effect on boys/teems and increased violence and these video games.

You all know how I feel about this. And, when you let common sense in, it is strange that all these shooters have had a history with these very violent video games.

I don't care who does what study - I truly believe that these games play into the psychopathy of these boy/teens that turn into these monster shooters.

It is just my opinion, my belief and is quite obvious to me when discussing all these cases.

oh & ETA

LE has said that he planned this attack for weeks - well, seems he also had a stage to practice on too. What better way to plan a mass shooting than to "practice one in an online simulation"?
I agree with you 100%. I understand video / online games are fun. But there are all types of video / online games.
Why do parents allow these violent games with such horrible images to be available to their children's developing teens minds. There are so many other things for teens to do and experience that will help them mature into well rounded adults. Isn't it our job as parents to "raise up a child in the way that they should go?" I just don't get it.

Highland Park shooting suspect's past littered with 'red flags'

“He was in his own world,” said 22-year-old Nick Pacileo.

Pacileo said he and Crimo bonded over skateboarding and were friends from eighth through 10th grade. He used words like “timid” and “quiet” to describe Crimo’s personality. He said the suspected rooftop sniper never talked about guns and would “zone out a lot.”

But when Crimo turned 18, around the time he broke up with his girlfriend, his personality changed, Pacileo said.

“Bobby was depressed,” Pacileo said. “He also went off the deep end after he broke up with his girlfriend a few years ago."

Crimo was obsessed with her, he said, and instead of therapy he turned to drugs.

“He definitely thought there was a border in the mind that needed to be broken through the mind,” he said. “Very third-eye type of stuff that kind of goes along with the psychedelic rap and drugs.”

Crimo also had a strained relationship with his parents, who struggled to make ends meet in the ritzy suburb, Pacileo said.

Everytime we hear about a mass killer, they said something is off about them.

I really don’t understand this IL FAOI card law. WHAT IS THE POINT of the parent and/or guardian “sponsorship” requirement?

Using logic and common sense, one might assume that a sponsor essentially bears some responsibility if the firearm owner uses that firearm illegally — you know, if he goes on a killing spree and murders a bunch of innocent people, for example. I had assumed it was similar to co-signing a car loan. If the owner defaults on the loan, the co-signer is held responsible and has to pay the piper (literally and figuratively).

Apparently, my logic isn’t sound nor my sense all that common… because it doesn’t appear to serve any purpose at all.

(It just makes me really angry because there’s no way dad didn’t know his son was a loose cannon and the last person on earth who should be buying a gun.)

ETA — I now see that it’s a moot point; I didn’t realize he was already 21. For some reason, I thought he was 20. Nevertheless, I stand by what I said about dad.

I think he looks a lot like Emo Philips who was a comedian quite popular in the late 80s early 90s. He's been making a resurgence lately. His persona is of a child-like individual who spoke haltingly and gave the impresssion he was mentally disturbed. Even when RC wore those big round glasses they reminded me of a prop that Emo Philips used.

Drugs - no surprise here.
I don't think drugs are cheap, and yet, with no regular job, he could afford both weapons and drugs.
He was 21 and still living with parents.
He was living at his Uncle's home in Highwood. His mother lived on McD. in Highland Park, very close to the parade route. It appears that the McD house is the one he grew up in.

More info on little Aiden and how he survived.

It was fairly obvious from the names that the mother, Irina, and her parents were of Russian nationality. Didn't realize she was her parents' only child.
Their surname sounds Jewish, and given that this community had a high proportion of Jewish residents, along with Crimo previously casing a synagogue, IMO anti-Semitism played a role.

And we knew already that Aiden was found beneath his father. This article recapitulates that his father Kevin saved his little boy's life.

Thankfully donations have been pouring in to help the grandparents, who lost an adult child and now in their golden years must raise a toddler.

Moo...i think he looks like his mother. Though what he looks like is does not have anything to do with what was done. Though maybe because of his looks he was picked on by the popular pretty people and jocks....alienated from society. Moo

“At some point his father moved out of the family home into a house two miles away in Highwood, while Crimo stayed with his mother and the Highland Park house fell into disrepair.

“It looks like it should be condemned,” a neighbor told Fox.

About two years ago, around the time he lost his job at Panera Bread at the onset of the pandemic, Crimo moved into live with his father and uncle.”

He hasn’t worked in two years? Where did he get the money to buy guns and ammo?

I think in the age of transgenderism, cross dressings and everything in between most people don't bat an eye at a male dressing as female and vice versa. A lot of people these days just think " To each his own" I think at this point we have mostly accustom to these things. So unattractive or not no one payed attention.

I have been thinking this from the beginning but wasn't sure if I should mention it. When I look at the pictures of his parents they do not have the same smooth philtrum (cupids bow), thin upper lip and flat midface which are indicative of F.A.S.
IMO This is no excuse for his actions however.

I don't think he looks like he has FAS. He's just goofy looking. He's so freaking thin. He also has a very long nose which kinda makes things look a bit out of proportion. He probably has glazed eyes from pot or whatever. If he wasn't so thin, he would probably look more normal. He looks like an anorexic version of a young Sonny Bono or anorexic young Ringo Starr.

I remember thinking Sonny Bono was weird looking when I was a kid. He never smiled and was always on those teen shows..LOL

It was reported that after the suicide threat, RC was referred to mental health specialist.
I wonder if he proceeded.

I think Covid time deepened his mental issues.
He stopped working, meeting people and started isolating even more.

MOO

Yes, his parents told police he was receiving mental health help. I wonder if that just means he was evaluated or had a couple of therapy sessions.

I can't imagine he would have lasted long in therapy. A few sessions doesn't add up to mental health treatment, and to me an evaluation means nothing. It's easy to deny ever being suicidal or homicidal.

I think he looks the way both his online and real life friends described him; "nerdy."

He probably has an average IQ but never succeeded because of his emotional/behavior problems.

His uncle claimed he never saw any red flags, yet he said Crimo was always at the computer and didn't communicate with him.

Apparently he was a gamer before he started making music videos. Has he been sitting behind a computer living a fantasy life since he was homeschooled? And nobody saw a problem with this?
