GUILTY IL - Kaitlyn 'Katie' Kearns, 24, fatally shot, Joliet, 11 Nov 2017 *Arrest*

Suspect in Custody: A man is being held in the custody of the sheriff's department since Thursday and has 48 hours to file criminal charges otherwise it will have to let the man go. The man has been interviewed once by sheriff's investigators in connection with Kearns' disappearance. "Since then, he has gotten an attorney so we are unable to speak him." The suspect is not a resident of Will County.

"Three to four" search warrants were executed and "numerous more are to come." Around 10 a.m. Thursday, the Will County Sheriff's Department SWAT team stormed into the Outlaws Clubhouse and raided the joint as part of the Kearns murder probe.

In addition, they spent several hours conducting a raid at a small house over in the 400 block of East Third Street of Coal City. The person who resides at the home has lived there at least two years and he is known to be a member of the Outlaws because he likes to wear his Outlaws vest in public. A CSI team "did remove cardboard boxes and ... paper bags." The 32-year-old man who lives at that home in Coal City also has vehicle registrations for a 2014 Dodge Charger, a 2007 Harley Davidson, a 1987 motorhome and a 1998 Chevy C1500 truck.

Authorities are confident they have the right person in custody and expect that more information about the case could be disseminated to the press sometime on Friday.

:rose: RIP Katie :rose:

Pleased to see there was an arrest. Now I want to know the motive!

"We are confirming that she had told four different people that she was heading to the Outlaws Clubhouse after her shift," a Will County Sheriff's department spokeswoman said.

Katie Kearns was found murdered inside of the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee that she was driving. Her vehicle was located in a rural area of Kankakee County near St. Anne's, which is southeast of Kankakee, about an hour's drive from Woody's or the Joliet Outlaws Clubhouse. "It's out in the country," she said of the crime scene.

By 10 a.m., the Will County Sheriff's Department SWAT team showed up in force at the Joliet Outlaws clubhouse and stormed into the place. "'They might have taken a car out of there as part of the investigation," she said.

The clubhouse is up the road from Woody's, also along East Washington Street.

I am not surprised, at all, that the bar owner and the members of the Outlaws didn't help in the search. The owner most likely was protecting her business. The bikers trusted her enough to frequent her establishment. If that changed, she could lose her livelihood.

As far as the Outlaws, they don't take kindly to harming women or children. Not saying the guy in custody didn't do it... just that I believe the other members were not aware of what he did.

Jeremy Boshears is being charged with concealment of a homicide in the shooting death of Kaitlyn Kearns. An arrest warrant lists his bail at $250,000. His attorney said Boshears is in custody in Will County and must still be served the arrest warrant and transferred to Kankakee County to appear before a judge. Patel did not have a court date as of early Friday afternoon. The concealment charge is a Class 4 felony and could carry a sentence of probation or up to three years in prison if convicted.

"According to federal agents the Outlaws in the Great Lakes region are the dominant biker gang. Outlaws rackets are primarily illegal drugs-meth, cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy. Like traditional organized crime they are also into arson, assault, bombings, extortion, fraud, murder, kidnapping, money laundering, prostitution, robbery, theft and weapons trafficking."

Does the above exclude women and children? Just wondering...(not being snarky, well maybe kind of lol, no, but seriously, I'm asking...)

I disagree. I predict that others will be charged or will turn state's evidence in order to avoid being charged.
ETA: Someone helped him get her vehicle to where it was found. He didn't walk the 50 miles back to Joliet, and you can't haul a Harley in the back of a jeep.

so who shot her then?

An arrest warrant lists his bail at $250,000.

Will County Sheriff’s department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said Boshears is a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. Will County Sheriff's office SWAT officers executed a search warrant Thursday morning at the group’s clubhouse, which is near the bar where Kearns worked. Officers seized Boshears’ white Dodge Charger from the clubhouse parking lot after the search, Hoffmeyer said. The vehicle was still being processed Friday, she said.

Boshears throws at least one huge outdoor party every year in his yard. The bash typically attracts at least 100 people, neighbors say, mostly rough and tough motorcycle riders, like him. And here in this quiet, mostly older neighborhood where several senior citizens live, Boshears is best known for his flagpole. At the corner 3rd and Shabbona Streets, Boshears proudly flew the Confederate Flag. That flag sported the message "Come and Take."
Above his Confederate flag, Boshears flew a black flag with a serpent that proclaims "DON'T TREAD ON ME." Before that flag showed up more recently, neighbors told Joliet Patch, Boshears apparently had been flying an odd-looking yellow flag, a flag that some suspected might serve as a code for drug activity

Boshears works for an overhead door company, according to neighbors
On social media, a Linkedin profile identifies a Jeremy Boshears as being employed in Joliet at Wunderlich Doors, Inc., in building materials.

Boshears mostly kept to himself and did not go out of his way to mingle his neighbors.
"In all the years, I've never had so much a reason to have a conversation with him," one man said.

The felony charge, however, is not being filed in Will County, but rather by the Kankakee County State's Attorney's Office.
Boshears was then apprehended and driven down to Kankakee County, where he was booked into the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

Interesting. So he’s not being charged with the murder as of now, just the coverup. I wonder if others will be charged... *thinking*

I'm guessing they just don't have the evidence as yet for a formal murder charge. They removed several bags from his residence. The story will unfold. I feel for the family - she doesn't seem like someone that was raised to work in and hang out with outlaw bikers, but at that age, I was often less than smart about my boyfriend choices.
