I think the statement to police was he was playing Video Games then went to the bathroom for *advertiser censored* and masturbation. (Did he watch them on an Iphone or Ipad) Why not just do it in your room and not the bathroom?

Bad thought here but I wonder if they find Child *advertiser censored* on his computer? How often were Grandma and Grandpa gone? How often was Willow and the younger brother left completely alone with the Uncle?

Is it possible he had been wanting to do something to her but never had the chance and with his parents and sister gone it was his first real chance to do something?

I am trying to understand LE's hesitancy in answering questions about mom's placement in this whole scenario...

I am jumping in... So I hope this does not land at an awkward spot...

It was stated in court docs that mom was at a bar while JD was babysitting the children...

could she have gone to another location (not home) to spend the night...

when she came home Sunday...Possibly about 10:30 a.m. ... JD told her Willow had just gone missing...

Mom believes her brother's story... And starts looking around the block for her...

when she can't find Willow... She calls 9-1-1- to report a missing Willow...

when talking with LE she states her contrived story of feeling ill.. Checking on kids... Movie... Breakfast... Etc.. All to make it seem she was not a negligent parent.... Or , well, you know....

when the investigation of a missing child turns to finding a possibly deceased child... She may have " come clean" with LE about her true locations the previous night and next morning...

soooo... When she "lied"... She had no idea that JD had killed her daughter... And, therefore was not covering for him...

therefore... LE does not consider her initial lack of honesty as anything but covering a guilty conscience... And not an obstruction of justice?

All just thoughts that I have at the moment... Subject to change with new information...

Good thoughts, CLUE. She has a boyfriend. Maybe she spent the night at his place. Might also explain why her boyfriend's mother is the one quoted about feeding the kids breakfast, etc.

Ok. Here is another downstairs reference, just like the mom made. We were discussing this last night. Their house (according to LE, google images, media, etc) is a single story home. The crime scene might be at another dwelling. Ideas?

I was sexually abused by an older male cousin when I was younger. At least I call it that. M grandparents watched us and were outside a lot leaving us alone and he would make me look at his male parts and tried to get me to touch him. Luckily my mom started asking tons of questions why I didn't want to go to grandparents anymore and I finally told her why. Without my mom hounding me, I am positive I would have been raped eventually. This case hits a nerve with me because I feel this happened with Willow and perhaps she had no one to talk to about it. Poor girl. It really is embarrassing and I am so upset that this looks like a probable scenario.

I just had a thought after reading above post. Our narrative from LE is supplied by the alleged perp. Thinking outside the box here, we don't know that maybe he planned all this and that the crime scene may be at the river somewhere. That would make clean up awfully easy. My reasoning for this possible scenario is that in this heat, that much blood is gonna easily be picked up by dogs, even if he used a water hose and tried to wash it into the ground. Dogs would be hitting on the house too if the crime scene is in there. Of course I realize LE isn't telling us everything.

Considering the perp made mention of watching *advertiser censored* and masturbating in the bathroom of all places, I hope LE searches that room with a fine tooth comb. If no blood was found outside, I wonder if he killed her in the tub... MOO

One thing about these cases that just seem to get more awful with the more information we get? They're going to get even more awful the more we learn.

He must have come up with that part to explain why they'll find his DNA under her nails. Then, we have the fact that he was watching *advertiser censored* and masturbating instead of watching the children. Then, we have the stick story, and why he had to slit her throat and stab her because he had to put her out of her misery.

Willow, poor little girl, was trying to fight him off, IMO.

I am thinking she lied because when she came home the only person there was her son. She was covering her *ss imo.

I wonder if they have an attic that has a bedroom in it.

I hope they decide to take little NG in for some medical attention as well, to check for bruising in case he was shoved aside, and for some much needed help with child therapists for whatever it was that he was witness to.

I would also like to say that I made it very clear that I hope JD serves a life sentence in prison with zero chance of parole for what he has done to Willow. ...that portion was snipped and should not have been.

Curious, you bring up a really important pattern there--he seems to be going out of his way to cover explanations for any sort of DNA.

I had an open mind when he was first arrested and I thought he looked scared and horrified in his mugshot. But I'm changing my mind, this is sounding more and more premeditated with lies covering more lies.

I fail to have noted a single shred of evidence supporting this being "accidental".

He wouldn't have mentioned masturbating if there was no reason to mention it. I believe it's 100% a cover story for the semen that (I believe) was found on or in Willow's body. JMO
So, she fell on a stick & died? Right. Did she also fall onto the uncle's body while he just happened to be masturbating? Right. I call cow excrement.
I'm ashamed of IL for not having the death penalty. I feel I can say that, as a native Illinoisan. This guy is just one of the many examples of 'people' who do not deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of us.
Poor Willow. It sounds like she died a terrifying and gruesome death. My heart breaks for her. I hope she lost consciousness quickly & wasn't aware of all of the violence inflicted upon her.
Also, where is the blood evidence? It has to be somewhere. I wonder if LE and the dogs have found it & are keeping it under wraps?
I feel sick about this little girl. My oldest is 8, just a tad older than Willow. How dare anyone MURDER an innocent child???!!!

In interviews with investigators with the Illinois State Police, Justin DeRyke said he had been in his bedroom playing video games for much of the night before leaving his room to go into the bathroom to masturbate and watch pornographic films. Upon leaving the bathroom, Long grabbed his arm to bring him downstairs to watch television and scratched DeRyke's arm, drawing blood.

DeRyke said he was angry at seeing blood and chased Long. She fled the house and ran to a brush pile. She fell into the pile and was impaled through the neck with a branch. DeRyke said Long was twitching and he "believed he had to put her out of her misery." DeRyke then slashed her throat and said he stabbed her multiple times, aiming for the heart before wrapping her body in garbage bags, sealing them with duct tape and dropping her body in a body of water south of Watson.

Kibler said the body was found by volunteers at around 7:30 p.m. Monday and a small hole in the bag revealed an elbow, with the size of the bags indicating the remains inside may be those of a child. The bags were not opened at the scene and were instead sent to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for an autopsy.

why would he leave his bedroom to go into the bathroom to watch *advertiser censored* and do his thing? this statement is not adding up ,but you know what they say, in every lie is a bit of truth.. maybe he trapped Willow in that bathroom with him and she did escape and take off running..I am not buying the stick story, but I do think that they will find sexual abuse JMO

You know Toothless, reading that also just made me realize--he must have taken the little guy with him in the vehicle he used to dispose of Willow as well?! Or would have left him at home? I bet he just threw him in the same vehicle.

Why is him masterbating ever mentioned!!! Did he tell the police how many craps he took too!!! I know we don't have the facts, but the story he is giving includes a part that has no business as part of his explanation. I will sleuth that it due to him being sexually inappropriate. No doubt

Its a way of him saying to LE 'look, I'm being honest and revealling deeply personal things here', so in his mind he sees them buying the rest of his fabrication.
