GUILTY IN - Breana Rouhselang, 17, pregnant, murdered by teen dad, Mishawaka, 9 Dec 2018 *Arrest*

So sad. I know he would have been in shock to realize she was not (or could not) have an abortion.

At that age, it can really screw up your future. Just so sad that he chose to kill her instead of do the responsible thing. Now he ruined 3 people's lives.. including his own.

He "ruined" more than 3 people's lives. He TOOK AWAY 2 lives, and ruined both her family and his own.

So SAD that he chose to kill her? CHOSE to kill her? Since when is killing anyone a CHOICE unless in self defense?

If I sound angry, I am, not at you, but at the situation and the mind-set/culture that brought about such a thing.

How is it not a choice? I'm not understanding what you mean.

How is it not a choice? I'm not understanding what you mean.

I mean, since when is killing someone a viable choice. Of course he chose to kill her, but how and why did he ever get it into his head that murder was a choice he was entitled to make? I may choose to drop my drawers on the courthouse steps, but by what reckoning is that a civilized, rational choice?

Look, in no way am I advocating what he did was less than horribly.

But yes, he did make a choice. It's not a viable choice... it's a criminal choice and an inexcusable choice to boot. So... this was not him flying into a fit of rage in that alley on that night...instead... he decided well ahead of time and then he planned this crime for a week.

This is just the way mentally broken people think. I wish they could find a gene or some other way of avoiding this altogether. The only solution in my mind is life-long incarceration or put them to death quickly...and I like the latter.

You're totally missing my point, probably because I'm not stating it well. All I want to say/ask is, when you have a problem with someone, no matter how big, does the thought of killing them pop into your mind as a viable solution for any length of time? I don't care about your answer, that's something you have to deal with. I DO care about what in his world/culture/upbringing made him fasten on murder as a viable solution? I don't believe most people think that way, or if they do, it's fleeting. Something made him think murder was a viable solution and he acted on it.

I don't intend to spend any more time explaining this.

Even if she told him in time to have an abortion, it was absolutely not up to him whether she was going to have an abortion or not.

Good info, JerseyGirl and Niner! Thanks for the reports.

A trial is set. Oh, just why did this happen? Two families will never be the same, and two young people, gone -- in different ways. SMH.
So many of us are so fortunate -- we must not forget that.

@borndem - looks like trial might be pushed out.... defense asked for continuance...

Ummmm, sure does - - thanks for the update, Niner my pal! :)
Gee, what a surprise, huh?!
I guess the judges try to be fair in these things -- less fodder for later appeals. So the People of the State of Indiana and Breana's family will have to wait a little longer for justice to take place.
Yeah, whatever... nothing unusual, but nevertheless disappointing.
