Found Deceased LA - Jean Stokes, 76, New Orleans, 11 Oct 2017

This will sadly not end well. If it does, I will be both utterly shocked and elated. They had a search that called for (only) men the other day. I just cant stop shaking my head over this. In a city with such soul, so much of our crime is done without conscience. In a world where babies and old ladies used to be off limits, now they have become common and targeted victims. Soulless.

My heart is so with this sweet lady, who successfully made it through so many years. May she be found safely to enjoy many more.

Aw, I was going to post some photos, but it won't let me. Abandoned six flags new orleans. Just Google it and look at images. I really hope they searched in there for her. As you will see from pics, people sneak in there all the time. I'm not sure how far down her car was from the park, though.

Yall, this is a scary part of town! I mean town is a stretch, in that area. Yes. It's a dumping grounds. See that six flags parkway on the map? Yeah, Google six flags new orleans and see the images! It was abandoned since Katrina and is terrifying!! Everything a horror movie is made of.

A true-to-lifel ghost town, sadly..

From what I remember...looking via google maps at the end of the road mentioned where her car was found-
I saw a parking space or two possibly hidden, tall weeds, another area somewhat fenced and a few appears to be multi family homes.
Sketchy area.

ETA What would someone want from a 76 year old woman?

I believe the area I attempted to circle in black is the area where Jean's car was found-

Family members have gathered by an old Levee off Michoud Boulevard hoping bloodhounds may bring them some closure.

Her car was found off the Levee near Michoud Blvd about a week ago. Stokes was a long time employee of The Orleans School Board and the mother of five children. She was also a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Most of her family now lives in the Dallas area and they were hoping to have her join them soon.

The Stokes family was out distributing flyers on Michould Boulevard Monday.

Yesterday search teams from Gulfport and Slidell came out searching the woods in New Orleans East, but still no sign of Stokes.

A $5,000 reward for any information that may lead to her discovery.

The local news said that she was a cafeteria worker. That was her job with the school board. A woman who dedicated her life to being around and serving our children. Snatched. Her daughter also said she went to her house at 830am on Friday Oct 13 and her mom and the car were gone. I wonder where she was last seen/ heard from.

Heres some MSM with photos of Six Flags I have been telling yall about

I also saw this said in an article:
Stokes' SUV was found*toward the back of a subdivision that is largely under construction. The spot*was*about a 10-minute drive from her home.*

--------
So, even though this is neighborhood, it is probably still pretty abandoned since Katrina. So scary.

Also, listen to the video in this next link. It says they searched under an overpass where "a cell phone registered", whatever that means. Her daughter's pain is heart breaking.

bbm - I'm also scratching my head over the motive. Did she have medication on her or in her car that could be of value to an addict? That's the only thing I could come up with. Though it does happen that even elderly women are not safe from sexual assault, I hope this is not what happened to her. Praying.

I wonder whether they found anything suspicious on/in the car. Evidence of an accident that was covered up?

I hate to even say this, but motive in new orleans can be absolutely tiny. They wanted a car to get from here to there. Thrill. You might have $20 in your pocket. You pulled out in front of them. Or maybe you just so happen to be driving down the interstate (we have had several shootings lately of people driving through this area down the interstate! And they just get shot!). One guy got shot while riding his bike a couple of months back. Because he was riding a bike. That was pretty much the reason. So, I wouldn't even try to burn my brain on motive, yet. It often doesn't even make sense.

Thanks, for sharing, mpnola. Very sad.

I do wonder if it was someone that she knew? Perhaps giving a ride to the store?

I'm just reading Jean's case for the first time. I hope she is found soon.

This is probably not her but a skull was found in Palm Lake (Slidell): http://www.wwltv.com/news/local/nor...while-hunting-in-slidell-police-say/491051531

I don't think it is likely to be her (because skeletal already) but I noticed it is just across the bridge from where Jean was last seen/where her car was found. If there are plate readers on the bridge someone might have removed the plate to avoid getting caught crossing it: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/490...2d0d67!2m2!1d-89.7589701!2d30.1354568!1m0!3e0

That's a good thought. We actually have lots of plate readers.

Didn't even consider removed for plate readers, Gardener.

People also steal plates from parked cars so they can use the plates on a different vehicle--like if they're planning to rob a bank or store or something. They do the crime and then toss the plates, so they can't be connected.

The person who took the plates might not even have anything to do with whoever left the car there.

Yep because driving around with no plates will get you pulled over a lot quicker than the wrong plates.

Nothing new that I could find in a quick search. Thinking of this lady today.
