MD MD - Kimberly Mileo, 20, Croom, 9 June 1983

Kimberly Christine Mileo, age 20,

Missing from Croom, Maryland

Last seen alive: June 09, 1983

Circumstances:
At the time of her disappearance, Mileo lived with her father and her step mother in Kettering (Largo), Maryland. Mileo disappeared on June 9th, 1983 after leaving her boyfriend's house in Croom, Maryland at approximately 2:30 am. Mileo spent Wednesday, 8 June 1983 at the home of a girl friend. With them that day was Kim Mileo's boy friend (Dana Hudson), who lived with his parents only a mile up the road. The three of them spent part of the day sitting around the pool and later all three went for a drive in the rural setting of Croom, all arriving back at home later that afternoon.

Croom is a small country village about 20 miles south of Washington DC. Her friend stated that Mileo and her boyfriend argued periodically during the day, but the disagreements were not serious. Mileo and her boyfriend departed from her friend's residence at approximately 11:00 PM and headed to his parents' home on Mount Calvert Road.

Mileo's family became concerned when she did not return to their house in Kettering, Maryland the following morning. Her father phoned her boyfriend, who claimed that Mileo left his residence at approximately 2:30 AM on June 9. Her boyfriend's father (Donald Hudson) supported his son's statement, saying that the broken muffler on Mileo's gray 1972 Chevrolet Vega with Maryland license tags ADG-075 woke him around that time.

Mileo's vehicle was discovered locked and abandoned in the 16300 block of Croom Road on June 11, approximately ten miles from her boyfriend's house. Her boyfriend's brother and his friend located the car. The vehicle was located in the opposite direction from Mileo's family's residence. Mileo's purse was inside and there were no apparent signs of a struggle or injury. The car was in a working condition. Foul play is suspected.

Some past coverage of Kim's disappearance:

I reviewed the Maryland civil and criminal court records related to the Hudsons: father, mother, and six sons. They appear to be a dysfunctional lot—most of the family has had some type of run in with the law, including domestic violence, a felony drug conviction, and misdemeanor battery charges (father-on-son and brother-on-brother). Other cases involve paternity, bad debts, state tax liens, and DUI’s. Based on their suspicious behavior after Kim’s disappearance, it’s hard not to suspect Dana was somehow involved and that the family colluded to protect him. Nonetheless, I can’t wrap my head around how Dana and/or his family were able to plan and execute such a tight cover-up. They’re all frankly too dumb to be that clever. The siblings barely eek out a living and the former business that Dana’s father reportedly owned actually belonged to his grandfather. Moreover, there appears to be a lot of family in-fighting so someone would have spilled the tea by now in retaliation against another if any receipts existed. Why hasn’t anyone gotten sloppy during an alcohol bender or marijuana high? Forty years is a long time to keep a secret.

This 9 June will mark 40 years since Kimberly Christine Mileo disappeared. It is almost certain that the Hudson family knows what happened to her and where her remains are hidden.

Forty year have passed since Kim likely met her death on the Hudson property. It is highly doubtful that anyone in the Hudson will ever grow a conscience an come forth with her body and the truth about what happened to her.

The Hudson family still owns the farm on Mount Calvert Road where Kim was last known to be. Perhaps aerial photography of the place before and after Kim's disappearance will show where new sheds or barns were built which could cover over her grave site.

Dana knows what happened to her.

Kimberly Christine Mileo, age 20
Missing since 9 June 1983

From news articles published in 1983:

... June 9, the date 20-year-old Mileo disappeared, she is presumed to have gotten into her car at 2:30 a.m. and left the home of her boyfriend, 24-year-old Dana Hudson, who lives at 16411 Mount Calvert Rd. in Croom. Family members have said they assumed that Mileo was heading to the house near Upper Marlboro that she shared with her father and stepmother.

But the next evening, one of Hudson's friends found Mileo's car parked along a wooded area on Croom Road about 10 miles south of the Hudson home and in the opposite direction of her own house in Kettering. The car was locked, but police found her purse, keys and one shoe inside...

------------------------------

... The parents of a Prince George's County man who was the boyfriend of Kimberly Mileo, a missing 20-year-old Kettering woman, say county police questioned two of their sons for hours about the woman's disappearance and ignored their sons' repeated requests to go home and to contact their parents and a lawyer.

Donald Hudson, father of Mileo's boyfriend, Dana, 24, complained that police continued to question Dana, and his younger brother Todd, 19, on separate occasions long after the two said they wanted to go home.
Police say the two Hudson brothers were free to leave and that neither of them requested a lawyer.
Dana Hudson was one of the last people to see Mileo early on the morning of June 9 after she left his house in Croom, according to police.

A friend of Hudson's found her car two days later on Croom Road 10 miles south of Hudson's house.

The Hudson's complaints center on the June 12 questioning of Dana Hudson which lasted for six hours and the June 30 questioning of Todd Hudson which lasted for 12 hours.
The parents say Todd had been at a friend's house when the police asked if they could question him...

Todd agreed to take a drive with the police, but the police instead went directly to the station in Forestville, according to his parents.

The parents say they arrived at the station at about 11 p.m. June 30 and asked to speak with their son, Todd, but were not allowed to see him until the interview was completed at about four in the morning.

Police say that Todd did not ask to speak with his parents or to contact a lawyer and that there was no reason to allow them to interrupt the questioning.

"We never thought there was a problem with the interview," said Corp. Ron Smith, a police spokesman...

"Todd is an adult and can make his own decisions. He was there voluntarily and he affirmatively expressed to us that he wanted to stay."

Neither of the two Hudson brothers are suspects in the case, according to Smith.

But Donald Hudson complained that his sons were being treated as suspects. "I feel my boys have always been the prime suspects in this case," said Hudson, "but they the police never questioned me even though I was also home the night that Kim left the house."

The parents have made their complaints about the police in interviews with the media.

However, they have not registered any formal complaint with the police or taken any court action. The two brothers were unavailable for comment except through their parents...

Kim was last known to be at the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gray Hudson of Croom (Upper Marlboro P.O.) Maryland. This thread on Kim mentions the Hudson family and their non-cooperation with police investigators following Kim's 9 June 1983 disappearance.

Donald Hudson passed away last October at the age of 86, taking what he knew with him to the grave.

Obituary for Donald Gray Hudson (22 Nov 1936 - 7 October 2023):

again another case of the couple who murders their girlfriend... if we look for a sinister gender that is the male... cowardly men who cannot be calm with themselves and have to see their partner dead if they don't look bad... I I think she ended her relationship with him and he did not accept this... to be free of dust and straw he ordered them to take her away and then go himself to murder her... the guy took her out of the car and left it closed to avoid suspicions and make the work of the authorities difficult...the most terrible thing of all is that the father supports the son by wanting to cover up everything that happened and perhaps the son acted as the father told him...evil family...
either way
rest in peace
