The most recent article on the Detroit WXYZ-TV web site says near the end "There were no signs of trauma to her body, and the door to her bedroom was locked from inside". Did the person then leave through a window since the apartment is on the first floor and the windows are very low to the ground? or through the door and locked it?

I have the news on now---her family is so upset.

Twenty-three-year-old Julia Niswender was apparently drowned in her bathtub. Her apartment was reportedly disheveled and some things were missing.

Police believe that after Niswender was killed, whoever murdered her simply left and locked the door.

"They (investigators) have polygraphed over 100 people and everyone has passed," Jennifer said. "Homeland Security and State Police are working together on this case. They have been conducting interviews with people in Ohio up to the Upper Peninsula."

AnnArbor.com is working to confirm the involvement of federal agencies. Ypsilanti police could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.

The victim was not sexually assaulted and police said from the beginning that there were no visible signs of trauma. Jennifer declined to say whether her sister’s body was clothed. She said since there were no signs of forced entry, it could mean that her sister knew her assailant. #

Cause released in December death of EMU student

Ypsilanti — Police say a 23-year-old Eastern Michigan University student whose December death was ruled a homicide was found drowned in a bathtub.

AnnArbor.com reports Ypsilanti police Chief Amy Walker on Tuesday confirmed the cause of Julia Niswender's death after family released information about it earlier in the day. Walker says the cause was asphyxiation associated with drowning...

Gress said police are hoping between the release of the cause of death and an offer for a reward for information on the case, some new leads will be brought forward.
