The NY Post has a good photo here of how secluded the entrances are in some of the units in her complex. Lots of shrubbery.

This is a photo of 1334 Joilet and clearly shows the design of the entrances.

Description

1334 Joliet Place is a gorgeous Mid-Century Modern 2 story townhouse designed by revered architect Mies Van Der Rohe in the Lafayette Park Historic District. Being one of the hottest neighborhoods in Downtown Detroit, this is the perfect location to walk or bike a few blocks south to the River Walk, north to Eastern Market, east to the Dequindre Cut and west to the Q-line. The association dues in this development include your PROPERTY TAXES, WATER, SNOW REMOVAL, EXTERIOR MAINTENANCE, TRASH, NEIGHBORHOOD SECURITY PATROL, CABLE, INTERNET, FURNACE AND AC MAINTENANCE, ROOF AND WINDOW CLEANING. This is a Co-op building and all future owners must fill out an application to be considered as a new resident. Pre-approved buyers only please!'

The police tape in the Post's photo, though, must be of her entrance. My point was that there are many places for someone to hide or not be seen by cameras nearby.

Here's a clearer image of the complex with trees/growth like the image you posted.
There's a neighbor right next door with adjoining walls and front doors next to each other.

I wouldn't be surprised if any Co-Op owners went before the board asking for a serious trim of trees/shrubs, better lighting etc.
Door bell cameras if not already installed.
A security make-over.

I agree, but wonder if changes are tricky in a building whose architect is so famous (Mies Van Der Rohe).

I would think that there are very strict rules in place on what you can't do/touch on the interior/exterior of the townhouses and the garden co-ops.
Otherwise? OMG-YIKES.
But, this listing says "respectful upgrades".

'Only 24 of these garden co-ops exist in Detroit's Lafayette Park, and they're highly sought by fans of modernist architecture. Mies van der Rohe's units have full glass walls front and back with a 40-foot walled courtyard outside the rear glass -- a private yard close to downtown Detroit. They're grouped with 162 two-story townhouses, also designed by Mies.

I'm wondering if this person falls into the 'known' category of suspect. Two separate witnesses saw and identified him in the area on that night. I think that either he was a local, someone people who lived there knew and made note of because his actions were suspicious, or he was a person who was already known to the police and they picked him out of a lineup.

'First person of interest said they felt ‘responsible’ for Samantha Woll’s death: report

'The first person of interest detained by police investigating the killing of Samantha Woll reportedly told the police he felt “responsible” for the woman’s death.
The admission was reported by the Detroit News, citing four unnamed police sources.
The newspaper filed a FOIA request for bodycamera footage showing the interaction during which the comment was allegedly made, but that request was denied.
Detroit police has not charge that individual with any crimes.'

This could be as simple as someone dropping a woman/person off late at night but not walking them in their house.
Yes?

"White said police monitored the man from the time he was flagged as a "person of interest" until his arrest Sunday.

"At no time was the community in danger, as this person of interest was under continuous investigation," the chief said. "The person of interest was taken into custody within an hour of the new information surfacing because investigators were familiar with their whereabouts."

Yep. But when you have a tremendous amount of media pressure and you're a pretty incompetent investigative agency, that "confession" is pure, investigative gold.
