The search was an amazing effort with great collaboration. Minnesota's new Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Office did a great job with organizing that search.

Search continues for Nevaeh Kingbird, as MMIWG Day is Sunday

The search continues for Nevaeh Kingbird, missing from her home in Bemidji in October 2021.

The Bemidji Police Department has been working hard to find Nevaeh and on Friday, May 3, they shared this statement:

The Bemidji Police Department, along with our partner agencies which include the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR), Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP), The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), The Bureau of Indian Affairs, and many more, continue in to work diligently to find Nevaeh Kingbird. May 5th is recognized as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman and Girls Day (MMIWG). The Bemidji Police Department wants to take this opportunity to show our support for those with a missing loved one. While these cases weigh heavily on our minds, we know it doesn’t compare to what family and loved ones go through on a day-to-day basis. We stand with you all during these times and want you to know we will continue to work diligently to find Nevaeh.

Nevaeh Kingbird has been missing since Oct. 22, 2021. She was 15 years old at the time of her disappearance and was last seen in the area of Washington Avenue South.

"The Bemidji Police Department has received and investigated hundreds of leads in these cases," a release said. "We have interviewed many people, searched numerous vehicles, private properties and public lands."

Bemidji remembers 2 missing teens at candlelight vigil; Police ask for tips

A candlelight vigil is happening Tuesday night in downtown Bemidji to remember two missing teenagers, Jeremy Jourdain and Nevaeh Kingbird.

“Some people would consider them cold cases. We’re not considering them cold cases, as we continually get leads on both Jeremy and Neveah,” said Bemidji Police Detective Sgt. Daniel Seaberg.

“Today marks the last time I was able to see my daughter, got to hold her, got to hug her got to speak with her see her face, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about my daughter,” said Teddi Wind, Nevaeh’s mother.
