GUILTY MS - Latasha Norman, 20, Jackson, 13 Nov 2007

Steadfast,
Thanks for the update. I will try to catch the replay of NG.

There has been scant little attention payed to a missing 20 year old college student from Jackson, MS and even the white police chief says it because of her race. He made the comparison the Peterson wife who has been getting wall to wall coverage. He has at least somewhat of a point since besides being on NG it's not got hardly or any national attention.

I'm starting this thread for discussion.

Latasha's case concerns me more than most because the Police Chief appears to be preoccupied with being interviewed by national media instead of telling the public what HE is doing to find this beautiful young woman.

Latasha has an EX who physically assaulted her.

I would ask the reporters covering this story to ask "why" Latasha explained the tire slashing to her family but did not tell them about being punched in the face?

????

I find it ironic that the story is about how her case is not getting enough attention and the focus is on other cases, yet it devotes a paragraph to the details of the Stacy Peterson case.

There are several missing persons right now and they can't all get the publicity that they deserve. I think what makes some of them more "sensational" are the circumstances. For the Stacy Peterson case, she's a young, pretty woman with two small children whose husband is (was) a police officer, and I think people are drawn to those types of cases. I really don't think it's a case of black/white here. I think it has to do more with the circumstances. But, that could just by my naive thinking.

Anyway it goes, I hope they are very heavily looking at this ex-boyfriend. And I hope she is found safe, soon.

Segment on student taped
The popular crime-solving show America's Most Wanted is in Jackson to tape a segment about missing Jackson State University student Latasha Norman.
The 20-year-old accounting student was last seen in class Nov. 13.
The Jackson Police Department, the FBI and the Hinds County Sheriff's Department are helping the JSU Police Department investigate the disappearance.

Yeah, but this section is for discussion which is why I started the thread here. The other section is supposed to be for information such as news releases, etc.

It's strange how they have one section for Missing news releases and one section for Missing discussion. Any news update would be in the discussion section anyway so why not just have 1 section instead of 2?? It makes it less cluttered and easier to sort through.

Latasha's body has been found her boyfriend is in custody for her murder.

The other section if for news only so that families of victims can read and post there and not see speculation that might upset them.

There are some links on the other thread saying that they found her body and have her ex-boyfriend in custody. It's very sad.

So sad... I was hoping she'd be found safe & sound. Prayers going out to her family & friends. :(

Actually our Police Chief isn't a big fan of giving interviews, also he just became chief about 2 weeks ago...and oh yeah he is also the sherriff of the county....Rest assured he's got it all under control. He cares a great deal about this case, and about ALL people. She has become our whole states daughter, and all this time she was right there..
latest from the local paper..http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071129/NEWS/71129039

Tasha, may you rest now...we will make sure HE gets what he deserves.

I'm truly grateful that Latasha has been found.

Prayers for Latasha Norman and her family ....

Coroner says 20-year-old had died 2 weeks ago

Hope for the safe return of missing Jackson State University student Latasha Norman ended in heartbreak for her family and friends Thursday when police discovered her body in a wooded area in north Jackson.
Her ex-boyfriend, Stanley Cole, was arrested a short while later and charged with murder.
The break in the Nov. 13 disappearance of the 20-year-old accounting major came when police took Cole into custody Thursday morning.

I'm thankful that even though this case received very little media attention, the investigators involved did their job and did it well. That's the most important thing in a sad case like this.
