Found Deceased MT - Shaun Kim Nelson, adult, Phillips County, 31 Aug 2018 *may have mental health issues*

***UPDATE**** October 24, 2018 @ 0800 hours
The identity of the body has been confirmed as being Shaun Kim Nelson. Preliminary results of the autopsy indicate that there was no foul play and it appears he died of exposure. Please have the family and friends in your prayers and thoughts as they go through this difficult time.
 
Phillips County Sheriff's Office

On the 21st of October 2018 the Phillips County Dispatch received a call from a hunter in south Phillips County stating that he had found a deceased male. Undersheriff Burt Peigneux responded to the Nichols Coulee area on the CMR Refuge to investigate.

The decedent is believed to be Shaun Kim Nelson of Washington State who went missing from his vehicle on the 31st of August near Highway 191 and Beaver Creek Road south of Malta. The body was removed from the area and taken to Kirkwood Funeral Home and has been transported from there to Billings for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and positive identification.

The search for Nelson was suspended on the 6th of September after approximately 200 square miles were searched by aircraft, specialized K9 units, and personnel to include local, state, federal law enforcement, and citizen volunteers.
