NC NC - Ebonee Spears, 30, Wilmington, 15 Jan 2016

I still think of Ebonee. Sigh.......

I noticed that she wasn't on the DoeNetwork.com, so I submitted her there... anyone hear any updates?

I live in North Carolina and hadn't heard anything about this case. The thing I find the weirdest about it is the idea that she went to the police station to use the phone. Is that a thing people do? It never would occur to me to stop in the police station and ask to make a call. Also, it strikes me that something is funny about the story of the "friend".

I'm furious with this case.

Between the local news, the WPD, and the family, the details regarding her disappearance have been all over the place.

The detective assigned to the case is now saying that some ex-boyfriend in Georgia may have kidnapped her? Ridiculous.

I had been repeatedly asking what was behind the Boys and Girls Club because the CUE's Monica Caison had originally said that was the last place she was seen.

Well, now ONE YEAR LATER, we find out that after she called her mother at 7pm,
Ebonee had flagged down a driver for the Boys and Girls Club, who took her there where she spoke to a social worker then left.
She was next seen on video inside the WPD lobby.

The Boys and Girls Club closes at 7pm.

Why would it take a full year to release that information?

She clearly lost her cellphone shortly after her call to her mother.

I want to know if any of these people before, during or after her visit to the WPD saw her with her keys.

Especially since
Ebonee’s apt. door has a deadbolt lock.
Her boyfriend had to let himself in with his key.
Her keys were found inside her apt.
How is that possible?

It doesn't make sense.

Just like her clothing... if she has a short sleeve shirt on, where's the purple hoodie?

“That hurts me as of today,” her father Alphonso Rivers said recently. “She was begging for help and nobody paid her no mind. You all know something is wrong with her, she has a short sleeve shirt on, it’s raining out there, you know something’s wrong with her, come out from behind the desk.”

Rivers, however, says she wants the footage out. She says it shows what Ebonee was last seen wearing and how she was acting. She says Ebonee was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and a purple hoodie sweatshirt with the word "staff" on the back.

Police cover -up?

The police are certainly covering up how badly they conducted their investigation,
and have a lot to lose if the department's handling of the case were to be looked into by the SBI.
The local media seems to have no concern for the conflicting details they continue to churn out.
I've followed this case closely since the beginning, solicited retired private investigators,
submitted requests to organizations, TV shows, radio, crime podcasts, etc.
plus posted here and in the Ebonee Spears Missing facebook group;
however, am at a loss as to what else to do.
If the police don't care and won't help,
who solves this case?

Until the local news reports publish differently...
The apartment door deadbolt was locked, as her boyfriend let himself in with his key.
The news reported the her purse, wallet AND KEYS were inside.
You can't lock a deadbolt from the outside without the key.
If her keys, purse and wallet were found inside, and the deadbolt was locked:
attachment.php

Ebonee was inside the apartment when her boyfriend arrived.

++++
Other oddities or just bad reporting (who knows!):
Her boyfriend's interview video clip removed online by WECT
He saw her that morning, but he's not on the StarNews Google Maps timeline
He didn't describe in his interview how she was acting what she was doing that morning...
++++
Irrelevant
He was merely called a friend until his interview
His fb page doesn't mention her
He owns a landscaping business
++++

He had the time.

++++
Sad to think, we would know probably more if they were married. First suspect is always the spouse.
