Is soldier's fiance at Bragg?

The fiance of Spc. Megan L. Touma is stationed at Fort Bragg, a soldier who befriended Touma in Germany said Thursday.

The friend, Spc. Breana Cooper, serves as a dental specialist with the Army. She and Touma were both assigned to U.S. Army Dental Activity in Germany.

Cooper said she had known Touma for nearly 2 years. Touma’s fiance had come up in conversation.

“She mentioned him. That he was from Fort Bragg and that’s where she was going,” Cooper said in a telephone interview.

“She was excited and everything.”

Cooper said she did not know the fiance’s name or his rank.

A motel manager and other employees refused Wednesday to explain why motel workers didn’t enter Touma’s room for four days. They said police asked them not to talk to reporters.

According to the affidavit, the bed in Touma’s motel room had been pushed slightly away from the wall. A nightstand and a lamp that was on it were askew, but there is no mention of a struggle.

A set of keys was found on top of the dresser. The keys belonged to a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer that had been rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the document says.

Investigators sought to recover any evidence of weapons, clothing, computers, digital cameras and cell phones, the affidavit says.

It was not known what police found during their search.

I find it unusual that she did not tell her friend in Germany the name and rank of her fiance and that she was going to name her baby after her ex husband (his statement).

Thanks for the update. Identification of the fiance should not be too difficult. I sure hope the Army is working with LE on this.

I don't think this young woman just died. She had a lot to live for.
 
I don't like that things are not more forthcoming from the military. With Maria L., they were not left much choice. That is the difference in this case as I see it. The family, LE, and others are not releasing information that directly corresponds to them so they have to combat it in the media. I applaud Sheriff Brown (in the Lauterbach case) for stepping out in the media and putting the pressure on the military to come out.

It does sound like foul play involved with the bed askew etc. Of course, the father of the baby would be the first to look at. She obviously had a great relationship with the ex-hubby and wanted to name the baby after him which I do find very strange (NG wasn't alone on that one.) This tells me that the baby could actually be his and because he did come forward does not mean he is not involved. I want to know exactly who the father is since her ex is having a baby with his new wife.
 
I am wondering about the identity of the fiancee.. she checked in on base and stayed on base for 2 days. She chose to stay off base at her own expense.. there seems to be secrecy around the fiancee and she had a do not disturb sign on the door. I wonder if the the fiancee was somehow her superior or other officer with whom she was not supposed to be interacting with according to the army regs..? or there was something else about this individual that they army would frown upon if she were to conduct her relationhip in the open.. why else go to the motel but for the fact that its easy not to be seen by the army staff.. the do not disturnb could have been so they could have some privacy or so no one discovers the body sooner than was desired. I dont get the sense that this was a suicide.. but something is just not right about the relationship with the fiancee.. why else would this identity still be a mystery? if they were that deeply nvolved there is no way that the person would sit by and not go to the police or someone telling what they know and how much they cared etc.. somethng is really hinky
 
opme, you're thinking exactly what I'm thinking. A married officer as well.
 
Yes SuziQ.. there is some significant reason we havent seen him in the press or at the police station. I wonder if he told her he was single and when he found out she actually moved back and his career and life were in true jeopardy he took matters in to his own hands to protect what he has.. or she could have realized the truth and comitted suicide but that just doesnt seem as likley
 
I read at Fox News that the fiance could have been an army dentist at Fort Bragg. It was written in a blog kind of spot and had a question mark after. The article didn't detail any of that. Has anyone heard this?
 
The letter certainly seems legit since the same marking was found in the hotel room and confirmed by LE. This also appears to be a messy crime scene so DNA from the victim and the perp will be self evident.

Hopefully LE can get him off the streets sooner than later.
 
Did anyone else notice that the year in the date of the letter has the year of 2008 written in the symbols for the those numbers.. ? Something about the letter bothers me .. along of the lines of its not a legitmate copycat or from a Zodiac killer admirer. more like its to throw off investigators..but I do find the reference to the Zodiac killer interesting. I do hope that this it not as it would appear at face value since I have family living in that area..

I find it strange that the mirror was taken by investigaters. It was listed in the search warrant. So there must of been something on that mirror. yikes
 
There was a note written in lipstick that matched the letter on the Mirror....
 
IMO the writer of the letter is the killer, but he is someone known to Touma and most likely someone with an obvious motive that needed to figure out an angle to throw off LE. I would also guess that he is extremely dangerous right now, because it would be in his best interest to continue killing as "the letter writer" (or having an accomplice do it) in order to continue to throw off suspicion on himself. (I should write mystery novels!)

I am speechless. Wow at the twist and turns this case seems to take

Now they not only have a brutal killer of a young pregnant woman but one that says more murders are to come.

The police cannot disregard this man because if he is legitimate....rejecting him will ire him and he will kill again to show them how incompetent they are to stop him. I am sure they have their profilers working on how to draw this man out again.

I wonder if they have other unsolved cases in the recent past?

I am puzzled somewhat though.......have the police been psychologically messing with this person since they received his letter? I think he wrote it because they weren't coming out immediately and saying it was foul play. Again if he is legitimate he wants all to know it indeed was murder by his hands.

He sounds like another BTK who likes the limelight. I think they will hear from him again.

The below quote certainly explains why on the police report "other major injury" is checked off. Also I found the search warrant and posted it last night, but does anyone have a link to the inventory list?

Late Friday, police released a list of items that were taken from the motel room and Touma’s rental vehicle.
Among the items taken were two sections of drywall containing a “red substance suspected to be blood” and a mirror.
