I'm pretty sure that Crimestoppers isn't part of the police department. It's a private organization. I thought that they announced that it would be $10,000 instead of the usual $5,000. But I may be mistaken
Yes I know, but Crimestoppers do work closely with the police, and it was Nassau County Crimestoppers who announced the planed "record-high reward ", and in lots of newsreports etc. the public was/are encouraged to give tips to Crimestoppers in this case.
SO, it still is kind of odd, IMO, that NOTHING have been published concerning this alledged record-high reward since april 22/23, which IMO could indicate that LE indeed have a viable suspect on their hands.
