were there any reports made available on tox? I mean could someone had being trying to drug the girl but maybe got Brian instead? Was this girl saw with him...man twists and turns everywhere :(

This one is a stumper for sure. Nothing makes sense but there are endless scenarios and so many questions. I don't have a gut feeling about this case, which is rare. There was a tip about him being spotted in Colorado at a shelter that seemed to be backed up with other info. I thought for sure it was him, but the lead didn't pan out.

Angels, they haven't located Brian. The girl I mention wasn't necessarily there when he was there. But it proves a good point about the bar not cutting people off when they should. I think his bestfriend knows more than he's admitted at this point. You dont just leave a friend who just lost their mom a few weeks prior to sickness at a bar, drunk, by themselves. I wouldn't even leave a friend who just got dumped like that. Seems his friend was more worried about the "friend" they took home.

"Through my experience doing this job, those two signs of not answering his cell phone and not contacting anybody - especially with reservations to Florida - those two indicators are bad signs," Thompson said.

brings me to three questions.

1. If he had a cell phone on him, was it GPS enabled??
2. If so why in the HECK didn't they enable it and use that to find him.
3. What about the band, who played, do they remember him, did he "go up" and talk to them...I used to date someone who was into this scene and believe me, he would bs with any musician out there. Maybe something bad resulted from that....

 My phone has GPS and its over 3 years old. I know a majority of phones have them now. . . . Sometimes I wonder about LE

Here is this if anyone is interested to add to their page:

I cant believe I missed this info: May 02 2006
"Police say the last two people who saw Brian Shaffer have now hired lawyers after detectives asked them to take a lie detector test. "

http://www.10tv.com/?sec=search&story=10tv/content/pool/200605/453455530.html

I wonder what ever came of the second guy. :waitasec:

I have found out from a valid source that no one from the band remembers talking to him, and other people were interviewed...makes ya wonder.

WHY would you not take a lie detector test if you have nothing to hide? Did anyone see anywhere why these two wre people of interest? I mean i know they saw him last, but were there any other facts that helped wave a red flag?

I wouldn't take a lie detector test. There is a reason they are not allowed in court. Many times they have been shown to be inaccurate. I would be so afraid the test would say I was being untruthful. If a test shows even a slight possibility of deception, people's lives are turned upside down. There are numerous cases where the test were "wrong" and people had their lives detroyed because the tests indicated they might be hiding something when in fact they were totally innocent.

Yes, but in another instance that is why they ask question they know you will be truthful about. Technology has come a long way. Any test used in court has to be WIDELY accepted from a scientific standpoint by everyone. Not everyone has accepted this type of testing. It may not be used in court, but a negative response could lead to a very important clue, perhaps someone gets edgy when asked if they know what happened to him, or if they know where he is. That would lead to cause for suspicion and more in depth questioning. I would take one, I have nothing to hide from anyone. I almost had to take a voice type one at this place I used to work for. I was the youngest employee, and of course when something came up missing they thought it was me. The cop was bombarding me with negativity, telling me how bad it was for a single mom to get caught up in theft. It was a digital camera I never knew was in the building. He explained how this particular type worked, and that when someone tells a lie a certain noise is emitted from their stomach, this in turn is documented as a lie vs truth. Turns out the woman who actually did take it submitted her resignation letter and the camera through the mail slot the next morning. I in turn quit, and decided I didn't want to work for someone who didn't trust me and was going to point the finger at me everytime something came up missing because I was young.

Who were the last two people that saw Brian that night? Were they his friends? I would take a lie detector test if asked but I know that some people are leery of them. Those two guys could refuse to take the polygraph but why get attorneys? If they are innocent why would they need attorneys? They don't have to talk to LE if they don't want to. I could see getting an attorney if I was placed under arrest but otherwise I wouldn't see the sense in it.

I hope that whoever played a part in Brian's missing is caught soon. Here he just lost his mother and now his family has to go through this. How awful for them. I wonder when "to much" is to much.

I have no idea, but I did read his blog and without slandering Brian or making him sound like a druggie or anything. I am beginning to wonder if these two people didn't ask him to "hook him up"...get an attorney to further limit incriminating yourself....ya know "Well the last time we saw him was when we asked him to go get us...." or god forbid they got him to try something and he od'd. I really hate to say it like that, but we had something like that happen here years ago. Everyone was too afraid to call LE and she died. Even as a med student, the best people can turn to drugs during times of depression, maybe he was drugged, who knows...but SOMEONE knows SOMETHING, and I wish they could provide the family with some kind of lead to go on. I've noticed this story has dropped from the news since that other OSU guy went missing. Still in the back of my mind is Tony Luzio, and how I saw that image on google by the bridge. I can't help wonder.... maybe this is what the psychic was picking up on in Brian's case, only I had the same feeling in the Luzio case, not psychic but I know what I saw, and I bet its still there on satellilte....I get one hell of a gut feeling on things. I told LE but I don't think they checked it out.

I checked the image again, and its still there. It got me wondering, so I downloaded google map and made a map. I charted tony's last whereabouts, brians last where abouts and something caught me out of the corner of my eye, and it wasn't the object in the water. There is a psychic that told brian's family to search the 5th avenue bridge...24 minutes away from his last known his HOME road with what could be considered FIVE bridges.... This is where I tried to get LE to check out that object I saw via satellite that looks like a car in the water.

This caught my eye today:

What if something similar happened to brian. Druggies trying to get some quick cash...maybe he didn't have no cash to give but could id them??

news update: http://www.nbc4i.com/news/9337457/detail.html
Brians dad made a commercial.
"Randy Shaffer went to a studio to tape a plea for more information. That plea will be carried out on local cable TV. The airtime will be paid for out of funds donated to help search for Brian, Hollingsworth reported."

Wow, that a good looking young man. From his web site, he seems to be smart, talented, sweet... nice girlfriend. Where is he, where could he be?

I notice that some of his myspace "friends" from the University don't even mention him missing on their blogs or anything. His girlfriend continues to post there though. Sad that none of his guy friends are posting there for support.

I agree. Since I first saw his myspace I felt an instant liking of this young man and hoped so bad he will be found safe.

Of course I feel that way for all the missing . I hope i'm not putting this wrong.

snippet from an old article:

One part of the mystery is how Brian left the building without being caught on tape. Both bar exits are covered by cameras— as is the escalator that leads to the street. Outside the bar, out of camera view, are stairs and an elevator that lead to the first floor. Once on the first floor, the only way out, without being seen on tape, would be through a service exit that leads to a construction site, with doors to the street. But why would Brian go that way?

Sgt. Hurst: There’s no reason for anybody to want to go out that area. It’s heavily under construction and would be difficult sober.

Police say it’s possible that because Brian was drinking heavily that night he may have been vulnerable to foul play. If Brian had tried to walk back to his apartment half-a-dozen blocks away, he would have been an easy target—police say there’s a “significant amount” of crime in that neighborhood.

This story reminds me of Imette St. Guillen. She was seen on tape going back into the bar, but never coming back out after her confrontation with the bouncer. I am not saying anything like that happened to Brian. The circumstances just struck me as similar. This case sure is a mystery and with all that he and his family had gone through with his mother passing it's just heartbreaking.

I have been in bars where one of my friends (sometimes more than one) have to be escorted out for drinking to much, or being loud, or just unruley, ya know? to say the least the bouncers were NOT gentle getting them out. One of my friends said "ok im leaving" and was wwalking to the door when the bouncer shoved him from behind and he went thru the glass door. Maybe there was a bouncer that knew about the back exit not having a vid recording and got a little rough with him? and who knows what else...
