I think he should be charged in Kenya. I would donate to a fund to buy him a ticket, see how long he would last in a Kenyan jail. Going to Kenya pretending to give the kids hope instead giving them hell. Hopefully LE will investigate to see if he molested any children in his neighborhood or church. Jmo

A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Matthew Durham, 19, with engaging in illicit sexual conduct with children. According to court records, the indictment alleges three counts:

Count 1 alleges Durham traveled from Oklahoma City to Kenya for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with persons under 18 years of age.

Count 2 alleges that Durham engaged in illicit sexual conduct with several minors under 18 years of age.

Count 3 alleges aggravated sexual abuse when Durham crossed a state line with intent to engage in a sexual act with a child under 12 years of age

If convicted, Durham faces up to life in prison... Officials say Matthew Durham will remain in custody until the judge reviews the appeal.

How awful, and how tragic that it went undetected for so long. I wonder how the trial will play out. Surely there won't be child victim witnesses, since they are in Nairobi. Will the evidence be just his confession, or will his lawyer claim that the confession was forced, and therefore not allowed.

It's very possible that this monster will be let free. Oh my!

How did it ever happen that he was accepted as a volunteer by the mission? I need a police check just to serve cookies at Sunday School.

His lead attorney, Stephen Jones, had complained Russell appears to have “a deep-seated bias” in favor of the prosecution and against the defense...

Durham sought the disqualification after the judge barred his attorneys from bringing up allegations that the lead trial prosecutor, Robert Don Gifford II, and a TV reporter had an affair.

The judge, in his order, stood by that decision, writing Durham “failed to come forward with a scintilla of evidence that any relationship between Mr. Gifford and the reporter had an impact on the trial.”

Matthew Durham is convicted of four counts of molesting children at an orphanage in Kenya.

Judge David Russell said such violent crimes deserve a harsh punishment, which is why he sentenced Durham to 40 years in prison...

He faced a maximum of 210 years in prison, and was sentenced to about a fifth of that time; a sentence that left Menja and other volunteers with mixed emotions as they go back to focusing on the children.
