Child’s remains found in search at rural Pa. property

Noting:

• The remains of a small child were recovered from a property along Livermore Rd where police were searching for the bodies of two sisters missing since 2015.
• It's where their mother Marie Sue Snyder has lived since 2015 with a son "J", 7.
• The search, which involves the FBI, continues for the other girl.
• Snyder was arrested 11/5 at her place of employment in Clinton Co for endangering the welfare of children and obstruction in child abuse cases.
• Also charged was Echo Butler, 26, Snyder’s girlfriend. She is facing the same charges and is also jailed without bail.

The arrest affidavit indicates:

• When questioned Sept. 15 about Jasman, 8, and Nicole Snyder, 11, their mother claimed they were living with a friend and being homeschooled.
• She would not provide the friend’s name but said she would contact her. She has never provided that name.
• On Sept 16 Children and Youth advised Snyder they needed to see Jasman that day but were told the friend was out of town on a family matter.
• Echo Butler, when questioned Sept. 25 about the two girls, claimed they were with a friend but would not provide a name or location.
• Snyder called the agency later in the day and claimed her daughters were out of state with a friend but contended not to know the exaction location. She was told to obtain the address and report it.
• Ronald Butler, the owner of the Livermore Rd property, told C&Y on Sept. 26 his daughter Echo, Snyder and her son had packed up and left.
• Joshua Snyder, the girls’ father, told the agency he had not seen his children since 2015 because of custody and protection from abuse orders.
• C&Y confirmed Jasman and Nicole had not been enrolled in school and the last contact for medical or court purposes was 2015.

For the second day in a row, agents and investigators were searching a property along Livermore Road in Hepburn Township just North of Williamsport.

Over the course of both days, investigators found the remains of what they believe are two small children who lived at the property.

Officials stated that they believe their findings are the remains of Marie Snyder's daughters.

off Livermore Road in Hepburn Twp., north of Williamsport, where
the remains were unearthed.

Remains of what appears to be a second young child have been unearthed in Lycoming County and police say the case is now considered a homicide.

It is believed the remains are those of Jasman and Nicole Snyder, the daughters of Marie Sue Snyder who were last accounted for in 2015, Old Lycoming Twp. Police Chief Christopher Kriner said Sunday.

The women and Snyder’s son <modsnip> were living in the trailer with Butler’s parents, Ronald and Michelle Butler, police said. The remains were found near the residence, they said.

Michelle Butler told investigators she had not seen the girls since Snyder moved in six years ago.

WIn a statement issued today, Police Chief Christopher Kriner of the Old Lycoming Township Police Department said, "Both DA Gardner and I agree that this situation is a travesty of colossal proportions and this investigation will not conclude until all evidence is gathered and analyzed, interviews are conducted and justice on behalf of the two deceased innocent girls is achieved."

Kriner is addressing the discovery of the remains of two children found buried on property along Livermore Rd. in Williamsport this past weekend.

"Due to the sensitive nature of this active investigation," Kriner said only some information in conjunction with information contained in additional warrants that will be disclosed later this morning will be released at this time.

• Six-year-old Nicole Elizabeth Snyder died/was killed and subsequently buried in 2016 in the back yard of the residence at 653 Livermore Road, Williamsport.
• Four-year-old Jasmine Jean Snyder died/was killed and subsequently buried in 2017 in the back yard of the residence at 653 Livermore Road, Williamsport.

The remains of the two deceased children are being flown to Erie Pennsylvania this morning for further analysis by a Forensic Anthropologist, Kriner said.

Child services began an investigation in September after a medical provider alerted them that Jesse was not in school and barely knew numbers and letters.

During the investigation, questions were raised about Jasman and Nicole, who now would be 8 and 11, respectively, the outlet reported.

Butler’s mother, Michelle, said that she hadn’t seen the girls in six years.

According to court documents cited by WOLF-TV, authorities launched an investigation in September after a report that Marie Sue Snyder's 7-year-old son was not enrolled in school, prompting a visit to Snyder's Williamsport home by an agent with Lycoming County Children and Youth Services.

Authorities then noted the absence of Snyder's daughters, who would have been ages 11 and 8, respectively. Snyder said the girls were living with a friend and being home-schooled.

But after child welfare officials could not locate them, they enlisted law enforcement to carry out a search warrant at the home.

Children's services were involved with this family in 2015 according to the father. I feel like Butler's grandparents should face some charges as well. "We never saw those girls that were buried right outside our house in 2016 and 2017". Sure.
