Video story on Day 3 of the trial.

So far, justice is rolling along.
This, like so many others we see here on WS, is just so sad... She trusted him; I guess she thought the new business was a good thing... and then the bottom fell out, it seems.

Justice for Blair, and prayers for those she left behind.

You mean justice for Jennifer? Blair is the suspect.

Watts said he and Brown had known each other for about two years after meeting as neighbors in an apartment complex in the area. Their friendship soon became a financial partnership, when Brown invested thousands of dollars into Watts’ restaurant, Birdie’s Kitchen.

Watts told police he expected the business to reopen in late January. But prosecutors say he was lying: Days before Brown’s disappearance, his lease was revoked over a lack of payment.

Day 4. Watts decides not to testify, pathologist testifies on her COD and MOD
Earlier on Monday, a forensic pathologist testified Brown suffered three broken ribs and her death was attributed to “homicide by unspecified means,” with compression and asphyxia.

“It’s more likely her ribs were cracked when her chest was being compressed,” Dr. Ian Hood, who completed the autopsy on the body of Brown, testified as Watts’ trial entered its fourth day.

Hood testified there were no external injuries and no signs of strangulation but that an internal examination showed Brown suffered three broken ribs on her left side.

Testifying for First Assistant District Attorney Edward F. McCann Jr., Hood ruled Brown’s death was “attributed to homicide by unspecified means with compression asphyxia that would account for the fractured ribs.”

During cross-examination of Hood, Coard stressed that Hood was not present when Brown died and can’t know what happened.

Hood said the fractured ribs were not a result of a punch or kick and added, “I wasn’t there so I don’t know the exact mechanism to cause death.”

During Hood’s testimony, prosecutors displayed autopsy photographs of Brown’s rib fractures on a large projection screen for the jury. Beforehand, Judge Carpenter instructed the jury that they should not allow the unpleasant photos to “stir up your emotions” to the prejudice of the defendant.

Day 5. Jury begins deliberations, will resume tomorrow.
NORRISTOWN — The fate of a Limerick Township man accused of killing a single mother who was his business partner is in the hands of a jury.

A Montgomery County jury of seven women and five men began deliberating at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the homicide trial of Blair Anthony Watts, 33, of the 600 block of Hunsberger Drive, who faces charges of first- and third-degree murder in connection with the alleged Jan. 3, 2023, slaying of Jennifer Brown, 43, his partner in a restaurant venture.

The jury received the case after hearing closing arguments from the lawyers and receiving legal instructions from Judge William R. Carpenter.

After about 90 minutes of deliberations without reaching a verdict, jurors notified the judge they wanted to go home for the evening. The judge instructed jurors to return at 9 a.m. Wednesday to resume their deliberations.

GUILTY of first-degree murder.

The jury reached a verdict Wednesday in the trial of a man accused of killing a Montgomery County woman.

The jury convicted Blair Watts of a first-degree murder charge in the killing of his friend and business partner, Jennifer Brown.

The court sentenced him to life in prison following the verdict.

The jury had told a judge earlier Wednesday afternoon that it had been deadlocked regarding the first-degree murder charge. The jury later found him guilty of that charge.

The jury of seven women and five men rejected a less serious third-degree murder charge which would have carried a sentence of 20 to 40 years in prison.

Judge William R. Carpenter, who presided over the six-day trial, immediately sentenced Watts to “the rest of his natural life in prison,” the mandatory sentence for first-degree murder.

Members of Brown’s family wept openly as the verdict was announced, obviously relieved about the jury’s decision that came after nine hours of deliberations over two days.

“Justice was served for my niece Jennifer Brown. It will never bring her back but at least I know he will never walk out and hurt another family again the way he has destroyed ours,” Diane Brehm, Brown’s aunt, said as she left the courtroom at the conclusion of the trial.

Testimony also revealed that when detectives used a Philadelphia police cadaver dog to search the floor mat behind the driver’s seat of the grey Jeep, the dog, “Patton,” signaled human remains or human biological material had previously been on the mat.

Additionally, a Jan. 8 search by Patton of a red Jeep Cherokee vehicle linked to Watts signaled human remains or biological material had previously been in the back seat area, according to testimony.

Very happy to hear they obtained a first degree murder charge. Jennifer was a devoted Mom to a special needs child, there is something especially heinous about removing her from his life. Over what, money? Somehow I get the feeling Blair will never admit what he did, he’ll die being a victim of an unjust legal system.
