Thursday, July 18th:
*Sentencing Hearing (@ am ET)– PA – Victoria Gazzam (4 mos old) (Nov. 12, 2017, Mt. Lebanon; “she was a fussy baby”) – *George Joseph Gazzam (30) “father” arrested & charged (11/16/17) with criminal murder, recklessly endangering another person & endangerment the welfare of child. Plead not guilty. Bail has been denied.
Trial was rescheduled to 4/29/19.
4/29/19 Update: Plead guilty to a general count of criminal homicide & to endangering the welfare of children. He will have a degree-of-guilt hearing before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Randal B. Todd on June 17. The options could be first- or third-degree murder, as well as voluntary or involuntary manslaughter.
6/17/19 Update (Day 1): Prosecution began presenting evidence at a degree-of-guilt hearing, after which Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Randal B. Todd will determine whether he is guilty of first-degree murder, third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter. State witnesses: Kayla Walter (Victoria's mother). Allegheny County homicide Detective James Fitzgerald. Zach Walter (Kayla's bro) & Mark Zimmer (Kayla's uncle). Hearing continues to 6/18.
6/18/19 Update (Day 2): Closing arguments by State & defense. Arguments in a hearing to determine the degree of Mr. Gazzam’s guilt concluded Tuesday, and Judge Todd is currently mulling a verdict, with options ranging from third- or first-degree murder to voluntary or involuntary manslaughter.
6/25/19 Update: Judge Randal Todd was charged with determining the degree of Mr. Gazzam’s guilt. Judge Todd’s options in the ruling ranged from first- or third-degree murder to voluntary or involuntary manslaughter. Judge found Tuesday that a Mt. Lebanon man committed third-degree murder. Sentencing on 7/18.
