" BREAKING NEWS" 3 jurors were eating in the cafeteria, and the same female I saw in a previous phase, still looks DEFIANT." - paraphrased from JC. Um, I've heard that 3 times, today. She LOVES the word "defiant," (and to stir the sensationalism pot). Maybe they were just tired and hungry. After all, they WERE in a cafeteria.

She bugs.

to quote katiecoolady...............i worship at the church of beth karas :D

she's the best!!!!!

Beth is very intelligent, professional, and sure of herself. Very confident, logical, and has common sense. She knows when to try to force her way into the story...and when to back off.

That's why we like her!

I agree with safie:

This jury has done an outstanding job of evaluating this case, and I would say most of us agree. If it takes them a week to come to a decision....as long as they agree on Death or LWOP ...it will be because they are charged with one of the most profound decisions one can make.

Let us remember Death is a decision EACH juror must make for themselves in order for them to live with knowing they killed someone. I suspect their may be those gung-ho for death and a few that can't in good conscience feel JA is a complete throw-away---no matter how heinous her actions .

None of us know how we would react after 6 months ....and it does not have to be the women having a problem EVERYONE of them has to live with a decision they will own for the rest of their lives.

IMOO I can only pray they will eventually agree on sentencing and it will finally end.:twocents:

You know the family has probably prayed for peace! And are resigned to whatever happens.

Has the dismissed male juror given an interview since the jury has been deliberating the sentence for Travis Alexander's murderer?

The male dismissed juror could possibly provide an insight into the jury - he is more familiar with the jury than anyone else. It would be interesting to hear what the male dismissed juror believes is going on with the jury as they deliberate the sentence - if he (the dismissed male juror) believes that the jury will be able to agree on a sentence.

I do know that we jurors are human beings - and sentencing a person could be difficult for a juror to do. However, jurors are selected - a potential juror has the opportunity to remove themselves as a potential juror. An action that I hope that all potential jurors would take if they knew that they lacked the ability to be impartial - if they knew that they lacked the ability to follow the State's instructions.

Jurors are human beings - but being a juror means that a person must be able to detach from individual ideologies, and, personal beliefs. A juror must be able to renounce their feelings - knowing that their job as a juror supersedes personal views.

A juror must determine if The State has proven aggravated circumstances, if the defendant has any mitigating factors. Serving as a juror is not about feelings - it is about the evidence. The judicial system is not served well if taken over by personal feelings.

Serving on a jury is not the time to exercise personal beliefs. A juror is serving a purpose that is far greater than an individual's own accord.

A medical doctor may not feel as though a rapist should receive life saving medical treatment - however, a medical doctor is not serving their own purpose. Regardless of how a medical doctor feels about a patient - the medical doctor's individuals ideas are not important. Providing adequate life saving medical care to a person in need supersedes a medical doctor's own beliefs and ideologies.

In fact, a medical doctor would be in trouble by knowingly neglecting to provide the needed medical care to an individual because the medical doctor decided that the patient did not deserve to live.

The twelve jurors for The State of Arizona vs. Arias are not being asked to "murder" Arias. These jurors are being asked if The State proved aggravating circumstances - if the defendant has any mitigating factors. It is not as though the jury took the evidence and said, "Arias deserves death." The nature of Arias' criminal acts allowed The State to present punishments for Arias crime. Arias crime - the criminal actions that Arias decided, planned and acted out - under the law, is potentially punishable by death.

Arias' own actions led her to this point. Actions that I have not seen Arias take responsibility for. Arias planned the murder of Travis Alexander - Arias worked hard to make sure that her trip to Mesa, Arizona was concealed. Arias could have decided to stop at any time - Arias could have decided to leave Travis Alexander alive in his home. Instead, Arias worked very hard to plan a covert trip to Mesa Arizona so that she could slaughter Travis Alexander without anyone knowing. After Arias slaughtered Travis Alexander - Arias went on with her life happy and satisfied.

Still, almost five years since Arias chose to murder Travis Alexander - Arias makes choices to hurt Travis Alexander's family. Arias seems very satisfied that she murdered Travis Alexander - Arias is busy designing the type of life that she wants (book clubs, teaching, taking classes, regaining her freedom, working on appeals, ect.).

Arias is not sorry. She is the same women that planned and worked diligently towards her goal of murdering Travis Alexander. Arias has hijacked Domestic Violence - with no care or concern for true victims of Domestic Violence.

It will disappointing if the jury in this case is not methodical, careful and effective of dismissing their own personal feelings/beliefs to serve - to give justice by following the instructions given to them.

All jurors serve something that is greater than themselves - it is a job that requires a person to rise above their own will, and, follow the mandates of the court.

Thank you for asking.

Obviously, being civilized, I don't support murder or think it should go unpunished. But I don't support state-sanctioned murder, either. I am anti-death penalty. I do support justice.

I don't agree with the hyperbole and rumour concerning Arias' unique pathologies or powers. She's not that special, though the media have made her so. And, I don't see evidence that she--or anyone else on trial--is "playing" the justice system. Taking advantage of one's legitimate rights is not playing or manipulating anything. That's where this conversation started.

Do you consider lying on the stand for 18 days trashing the name of Travis using her rights?

It's true, she IS an attorney...So she should know the risks in stating opinions about deliberating jurors, like body language or facial expressions...Then going on live TV to insinuate they're not getting along and things are going badly in their deliberations - when she does not know that at all.
She's also the one who threw a wrench into the trial so big it required her to take the stand.. She went on TV to talk about ~ NOT seeing ANY jurors ~ who did NOT see the prosecutor ~ signing a cane & standing for a picture.
And finally, she verbalized the same negative interpretations of jurors body language & facial expressions during the guilt / innocence deliberations, and was dead wrong. It's not productive, helpful or necessary in any way, and it causes needless anxiety and pain for the family...Yes, she's an attorney, and should be well familiar with how difficult this already is for them, and she's adding to their pain by always pontificating about how badly things are going for the state and the victims family. It's always one way; never ever does she "opine" that they look united, or even ambiguous...It's always a 'sky is falling' report from her..jmo..

Very well said, bravo.

With regards to the verdict and the upcoming long weekend-- I can see the argument being made that the jury might want to deliver it before they break and be done with it.

However at this point especially now with a couple of hours left in the day, I don't think it's a bad thing for them to take the next four days to themselves, go back to their real lives, think on their decision and come back rested and clear on Tuesday. I KNOW how we all feel for the Alexanders but I think they are very strong and can take one more weekend if needed, not like they have any control. If the jurors need this time to accept putting the murderer to death, I say .. take the time and embrace your decision and we'll see you Tuesday.

MOO.

We are not bashing, we are stating facts.

no. you're bashing. go read the posts.

i'd love to know how you guys know that jc is ''bashing'' and therefore offending the alexander family.

people are obviously emotional here, but this is beyond the pale. seriously.

Curious in Indiana, the only other posts that respond to your question about today's influences are #329 on p. 14 and #594 on p. 24.

There might be one holdout jurror. They might be waiting that person out. Seeing if he/she will break by adding a little pressure. Having 11 people breathing down your kneck could get old.

The best thing was when Darryl Brewer told the TH....Jodi is unrecognizable to me. she is a liar, is disrespecful, manipulative and evil.
If this comes to another trial, he won't be asked to testify because he betrayed her.

Speaking of the callers in to HLN (some of you were), get a load of this tweet:

Krysten ‏@Krys2the10 57s

Call ins for HLN usually sound like women who are struggling to breathe.

Jean has already admitted that she gets paid to say sensational things for entertainment. She is not being paid to be accurate or forthcoming and is quite often off the mark and inconsistent in her reporting. I really would not trust a word she says.

wow...now, that's telling.

I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I had to be in the same room as the Alexander siblings, seeking justice for their slaughtered brother ~ and any living soul knew this was how I made my living. (brrrr, shiver...)

I guess some people can justify...just about anything.

This is a funny observation, as I have noticed some people always look 'defiant. DH has a name for them but I don't want a TO. I just can't put much stock in the 'defiant' observation...yet I do find it amusing :seeya:

BK said it would take a 'couple of months' to seat a new jury. i think KN and JW would do all they could to slow that down as much as possible. motion for change of venue (very expensive)---the works. i just don't want that to happen. i think a huge mess is coming if we end up going down that road.

Presumably, Jodi would remain incarcerated until a new jury is seated.

Could/Would Jodi request new attorneys if this happens?

Would the Judge allow one or both of her current DT (and mitigation specialist) to withdraw from the case?

If the current jury would agree to a Life sentence, would Juan encourage the family to accept this instead of moving forward with a new jury?

I agree. Could turn into a major cluster@#$%.

The part in CMJA's allocution where she said her mom told her she saw the Alexander family at a stop light, and then she and CMJA had a moment of silence....that moment, if it actually happened, must have been sooooo awkward b/c we know that her reaction was all fake....I can't even begin to imagine the thoughts going on in her head in that moment while her mom was supposedly having a silent moment for the family. It's things like that that make me think that the mom is being completely duped here by Jodi. Does she not realize by now that Jodi doesn't care?? She doesn't realize it from Flores' interrogation, doesn't realize it after fake pedo letters and all the drama leading up to trial, doesn't realize it after CMJA's 18 days on the stand, doesn't realize it after all the evidence in the whole trial, and STILL doesn't realize it after all the interviews???

Five jurors defied the other seven in refusing to find felony murder.

I would not be at all surprised if the split is roughly along the same lines.

Respectfully, all 12 agreeing on premeditated with 7 finding felony as well does not make the other 5 defiant in my opinion. Both charges were stand alone capital murder offenses, so I don't think it matters if 5/12 didn't also vote for felony murder.

Murder = Homicide, an illegal, criminal act; Deliberate actions which result in the death of an 'innocent' human being -- In this case, premeditated and especially cruel; i.e., 29 stab wounds, many of which were defensive, a slashed throat and a bullet through the brain.

Execution = Justice, a legal act; Sentence carried out under a societal system of law and order whereby a guilty murderer/ess is executed pursuant to legal conviction by a jury of peers.

I'm surprised when folks don't see the distinction.

There are 'just' wars as well, but that will remain off topic here.
