Peru - Stephany Flores, 21, murdered in Lima hotel room, 30 May 2010 #14

Alejandro Trujillo has been in the news a lot since last year as this is another complicated murder case. To make the story short, he is the "suspected" assassin of Myriam Fefer and the intellectual authors of the murder are suspected to be Myriam's daughter, Eva Bracamonte and her former partner, Liliana Castro (they are also being held in jail). I don't think that there's nearly as much animosity against Trujillo as there is towards Eva, but no one is really safe in prison.

I had to wait a few days since I registered to be able to post... I'm from Lima, and having this case in the news all the time makes me think about it a lot. I'm 21, I have some friends who went to school with Stephany. I live about 1 km from the Hotel...

There's been speculation on why Stephany went with VDS to the hotel, but what I find strange is what she did earlier in the day (it might be related to what motivated her to go with VDS). I tried looking for discussion on this in one of the threads but couldn't find anything specific. El Comercio mentions that in the afternoon she picked up her friend Carola and went with her to the Hotel Pacífico (why did she go to the hotel? this isn't the tourist kind of hotel... I think this is why there have been rumors that she was a lesbian before it was known that she didn't have sex with VDS).

Another friend met them and the three girls went to a pub in Barranco. Stephany took the girls home but dropped of first the one that lived in Chacarilla, close to her own home, and then the one that lives in San Isidro. I don't know how her friends would think that she wasn't going to the Casino after picking this route, it makes little sense otherwise... If she was thinking of going home she would've dropped of the San Isidro girl first...

I'll try to keep track of the VDS threads... Maybe I could also translate some articles.

Welcome to WS "danielabc"!

"danielabc", have you seen the video of Joran (in Peru) going out to the store to purchase the coffee? We have heard that he purchased this coffee around 8:00 AM and returned to the hotel around 8:20 AM. Peruvian reporters had indicated that he went to the store by the gas station wearing the white shirt.

The only video we have seen is where Joran opens up the hotel room door, waits about 2 seconds, then comes out of the door with two cups of coffee while wearing the striped shirt. This is where Joran pretends to set the scene as if he was returning to the room with the coffee, knocks on the door, then gets the desk clerk or maid to open the door.

Thank you.

I really would be surprised if the Peruvians give Anita the Joran reception.
The Peruvians do not have the intimate knowledge of what went on in Aruba like we at WS have. She is just his mother(pity her) and did not commit any crimes as far as they are concerned.

The Peruvians would never treat her imo as they treated Joran.

Her only 'crime' is that she and the daddy enabled her precious son to
be the evil person that he is today.

Ok perhaps she couldn't stand up to the poppa, but she knows in her heart
what he is capable of doing just as the Anthonys know what Casey has done
and refuse to acknowledge it.

IMO

bolded by me.

I agree but maybe they've figured out a way to spin all this in their (Aruba's) favor? Don't know how, though...

Could be, Columbo. I'm interested in how you think they could go about that after all they've swept under the carpet? Gad, that sounds snarkey - not intended! :) Seriously... they've done everything possible to hinder an investigation and plenty to cover up. I just don't see any possible way they could spin it in a way that wouldn't expose themselves.

Thank you.

He was setting up his alibi.......showing the clerk he had no key after knocking on the door.....ummm only pretending.....with the tv blaring inside.
The clerk opens the door......she's already dead of course, and then he exits with a new outfit on......bags with him and he's off to Chile.

What a slime bag this guy is.......and this buddy on NG says he's a good friend?

Old saying.....'tell me who your friends are....and I'll tell you what you are...

My mom's favorite saying......and she was right.

It's my opinion too. Thank you.

Its certainly not in Aruba's interest to flail further in this ... especially during a deep recession. Joran got the best of them! The problems has
been put in Peru.

Now. If the world decided to make Aruva a poster child complete with
posters showing Kalpoes & Joran saying: COME TO SEE US SOON!

Wont happen. Aruba is a blackhole. Nothing comes out, but my neighbor
had fun there last year ?

You have to put some black humor in this, or you would choke on the
contumely.

"The prison (currently housing van der Sloot) is one of the toughest prisons, along with Lurigancho," Griffith says. "I've been in prisons in over two dozen countries. In fact, I was the lawyer for Billy Hayes from the movie 'Midnight Express,' and the Turkish prison is a Ritz-Carlton compared to this.
.

Oh man. Now I completely get why they don't have "life sentences". They don't need to bother with them. People don't last that long.
A 6-year sentence may BE a life sentence.

Let's just hope and pray that Peru is smarter than Aruba and don't fall for their crapola. They've covered up Natalee's case for 5 years now and have
gotten away with it.

I wonder what the Kalpoes are thinking right about now!!

There is a fundamental difference here. Aruba: Natalie was an outsider.
Peru: Stephany was one of their own.

The Kalpoes are probably thinking: "Im OK." and whatever that innane
Thai phrase tatoo was... the Aesop fable about frog and scorpion applies here.

jwarner... I just want to say that your posts always make me smile! Not just because we usually share the same opinion, but you have a special way with words that I thoroughly enjoy. Thank you!

A 6-year sentence may BE a life sentence.

Several months may BE the life sentence......BUT IF YOU HAVE THE MOOLAH
you may live a few months longer.

JVDS is a charmer....may even 'fall' for a few of these inmates and become
a # 1 all time great guy with a few.

I'm sure they are just waiting to get their hands on him......oppps who said that?

Has anyone noticed how he has aged? He's only 22 and looks so much older.
He had better change his tattoo which says.....'no worries' to ...plenty of
worries.....

Anyone remember Mad Comics......'What me worry'? 'Yes I'm worried'.....
Well, JVDS is saying that to himself on a minute by minute basis.

He's in the same dirty smelly clothes since he's been brought into jail.

BOY .....he must stink to high heavens......he's not the Gentleman's Quarterly he once thought of himself as.

So, when the maid opened the door for Joran, she did not go inside or look inside, right? Stephany was already dead at this time, am I correct? If so, that was a bit risky, wasn't it?

Maybe I am mistaken with my timeline. If so, I apologize.

Agreed Jwarner.....totally.

I'm thinking that they, along with numerous 'officials', are very, very worried. JMO Primarily because I think they're in it up to their necks and, secondarily, because they see the bus coming.

Yes I think she was totally dead......he pretended the coffee's were for he and Stephany.....he was setting up his alibi.....by lightly rapping on the door
because the TV was blasting......if you watch the video...it shows it all.

He's shrews and conniving and plus a double murderer.

I hope the authorities are checking Columbia where they reported that 2 girls were also missing from some Casino there.......it fits JVDS's mo....to a "T".

Call me a conspiracy theorist if want, but after watching the Holloway case for five years, this makes me nervous, Aruba officials trying to work things out with Peru and coming to talk to Joran and him having the funds for a high-flying attorney.

Joran getting away with the Holloway disappearance was not luck. It was the right connections. Perhaps those connections didn't go away when his dad passed away. Or, they're afraid he'll 'spill the beans' on those that know in Aruba, IMHO. :(

I only pray that the Peruvian government doesn't work out some type of secret deal with Aruba. It's been done before, IMHO.

These latest developments are most concerning to me. I had hoped for once, Joran was going to have to take his medicine. It would serve mankind a great service if he was out of commission for decades. He's a danger to society, IMHO.

JMHO
fran

Excellent point, Fran. I too, find it very disconcerting, that an "attorney" is going to Lima, rather than some high ranking member of their police.
I am have my conspiracy "hat" on as well. :eye: I am wondering if this is how "they" will get JVDS some legal counsel. JVDS is still of a family, that is connected. His godfather, who use to be chief of police 5 years ago, retired. However, people don't necessarily "retire" their connections.

I'm think that they, along with numerous 'officials', are very, very worried. JMO

I pray they are......all of Aruba are corrupt and covered up Natalee's
investigation big time.

We knew it then and by God we know it now to be TRUE.

AquaEyes

All that is correct. Not risky at all, IMO. It's my opinion that he was hoping the hotel employee would discover the body with him standing outside with his two cups of coffee looking on in (fake) horror. Alibi.

Yeah, I'm concerned, too, and for the same reasons. But here's a thought I am hoping Beth, Dave and John Q. Kelly are thinking about: pressing for US investigation to join the Peruvians and the Arubans because Natalee was a US citizen and Joran is currently wanted in the US. I feel quite certain of Stephany's family being committed to getting justice in Peru, but it wouldn't hurt for the US to put some pressure on to counterbalance the Arubans. Based on their track record, getting justice for these two young women is the last thing on the Aruban agenda. I want to see the FBI down there, getting some payback for Natalee and for letting Joran out of the country when they KNEW he was extorting money from her family. So I hope we get American LE down there.

The Peruvian officials will never ever let JVDS out of their country until he has finished his sentence. They have stated that on various occasions.
That means at least two years in Castro Castro during the trial plus whatever the sentence will be. The only way JVDS will get out any earlier is in a body bag. I am pretty convinced of that. My opinion only of course.

According to Mark Furhman on Geraldo's show the way Joran had apparently postitioned the body you could not see it from the open door.

I think every human has a right to be clean. I also think that Joran will be fine. He is a big guy, much bigger than most of the other prisoners. He also has a temper. No documentation of him using that temper on men so we will see.
