Joran getting away with the Holloway disappearance was not luck. It was the right connections. Perhaps those connections didn't go away when his dad passed away. Or, they're afraid he'll 'spill the beans' on those that know in Aruba, IMHO.

I only pray that the Peruvian government doesn't work out some type of secret deal with Aruba. It's been done before, IMHO.

These latest developments are most concerning to me. I had hoped for once, Joran was going to have to take his medicine. It would serve mankind a great service if he was out of commission for decades. He's a danger to society, IMHO.

By seeing how many people they have in that prison waiting for trial, it could be a couple of years to get any formal stuff done.

I doubt Peru would let Joran go back to Aruba before he's served his time in their country for his crime against a Peruvian.

To make the story short, he is the "suspected" assassin of Myriam Fefer and the intellectual authors of the murder are suspected to be Myriam's daughter, Eva Bracamonte and her former partner, Liliana Castro (they are also being held in jail). I don't think that there's nearly as much animosity against Trujillo as there is towards Eva, but no one is really safe in prison.

I had to wait a few days since I registered to be able to post... I'm from Lima, and having this case in the news all the time makes me think about it a lot. I'm 21, I have some friends who went to school with Stephany. I live about 1 km from the Hotel...

There's been speculation on why Stephany went with VDS to the hotel, but what I find strange is what she did earlier in the day (it might be related to what motivated her to go with VDS). I tried looking for discussion on this in one of the threads but couldn't find anything specific. El Comercio mentions that in the afternoon she picked up her friend Carola and went with her to the Hotel Pacífico (why did she go to the hotel? this isn't the tourist kind of hotel... I think this is why there have been rumors that she was a lesbian before it was known that she didn't have sex with VDS).

Another friend met them and the three girls went to a pub in Barranco. Stephany took the girls home but dropped of first the one that lived in Chacarilla, close to her own home, and then the one that lives in San Isidro. I don't know how her friends would think that she wasn't going to the Casino after picking this route, it makes little sense otherwise... If she was thinking of going home she would've dropped of the San Isidro girl first...

I do think IMO that Joran was planning on participating in the LAPT that was taking place in the Atlantic City Casino from June 2-5th. The buy in for the main event was $2500 + $200 but there were many other events to participate in as well. Knowing that this event was starting in a couple of days and the desperation that is coming out about how he was trying to get money from friends just shows IMO how badly he wanted to participate in these events but had blown through the money he had and couldn't. His whole reason for going to Lima was to participate in that tournament I'm sure.

There was a welcome party on June 1st at 9:00 pm for this tour and I believe it was his friend Garcia who mentioned that he was supposed to meet Joran at 9pm on the 1st so that is probably where they had agreed they were going to be. When Joran didn't show up, that is when he believed something was wrong. He must have known that Joran wouldn't have missed this tournament for anything, including the welcoming party. They may even have been able to register for the main event at that party.

Joran was desperate for money and the deadline for entry may have been June 1st. All his attempts to get money from friends in the days leading up to the murder had failed. He didn't need money to get back to Aruba. He had a one way airline ticket provided to him by Uri Gellar. He lied to a number of people about why he needed the money I'm sure. Stephany had enough money on her to get him into this event. According to something I read from her father, she may have had up to $10,000 from her winnings over that weekend alone. This would have been more than enough for both of them to get into the main event as well as some or all of the other events and IMO that may have been what they were planning to do.

If Stephany had already agreed to bankroll him for the tournament and she had pulled out of that agreement for any reason, whether it be finding out about who he was and not wanting to associate with him anymore or any other reason, I do believe that was enough to set him off.

I also find it interesting that Joran claims he first met Stephany on the 27th. The next day she's asking her Dad for money to buy a laptop. I wonder if they checked hotel video from the days before to see if she had been to his room prior to May 30th to play online poker. Did she see his laptop and decide she actually wanted one or did she use that excuse to get the $1000 out of her Dad so she could try to win more money to get them both into the tournament. This whole plot could have been hatched by Joran back on the 27th. It's possible that with Stephany's history of gambling debts that her father would not have just lent her the money to get into the tournament so she may have lied about why she needed the money. I'm sure Joran could have helped her with that. He's very good at lying to get money out of people.

BBM ~ I'm curious if the computer in Stephany's room was a laptop or a desktop. During the GVS interview her sil said that after the family returned from viewing the video at the casino, she went up to Stephany's room and turned on her computer to google Joran's name. She let out a scream from the second floor room when she saw all the stuff that came up about him in the connection to the disappearance/death of NH.

If SF had a desktop she may have wanted a mobile laptop. Maybe she mentioned this to Joran who used this excuse to bring her to his room, that is, I'll let you look at my laptop as I really like it - suggest you buy one like this, the brand, etc. :waitasec:

Yes Fran, 5 years for the Holloways to find some peace in their lives.
This finally slipped up big time.....and in a country where the rules
don't apply to Aruba. I'm just hoping they are smart enough to dot all
their i's and cross their t's when it comes to JVDS and the corrupt Arubian
officials. Now I'm not saying that Peru isn't corrupt because many of the
countries in SA are just that....Argentina hiding Nazis since WW2 not to
mention Germany where many are living the life in pure luxury.
However JVDS did take the life of an innocent girl and hopefully Peru
is wise enough to see VDS gets his just deserts.

I pray that when the Aruban officials finally do make it to Peru, that Peru does not let them have his laptop without first getting the Judges approval to check out that laptop, I can just see the Aruban Authorities say well there was nothing found on the laptop, But if Peru has gone thru it with a fine tooth comb first then I think we will be able to find out what exactly is on that laptop.
