Low temp was 64 degrees, so i would assume lite jacket. but after 3 hours don't u think she would have taken it off?

maybe it was part of the outfit.............
not if it was a "hoodie". I have children around their ages and that's ALL THEY WEAR!!! Even in South Florida where it has been high 80's - low 90's already. They never take them off. With it being 64 - she probably had a hoodie on and that's the "jacket" they are refering to. JMO

It could have been cool in the room and decided to leave it on as she wasn't going to stay that long.

Perhaps she was killed within 15 minutes or so of her arrival in the room.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I love that the wheels of justice are turning so quickly! MOO

Me too Panthera. Do you think he will walk willingly across the line or will he need a big push?

Also thinking it is winter in Peru right now.

Time of death - 8:30am and what times were given for Joran going out for coffee? TIA

Wow, so many questions. Wonder why no other motel guests heard any disturbance with such a brutal beating going on in Joran's room. Also, I wonder if Joran even really planned to enter the tournament. Maybe he was going to take Stephany's money and immediately skip town. What a sociopath. Authorities should look at other crimes involving men who have been robbed and left for dead, drugged, or who are missing as well as young women.

Nope, we all do not have to admit the extortion charge is tacky. Any charges on this murderer for anything, and I do mean anything is not tacky. I'm all for anything that could result in his butt being in prison. I'm sure the complaint brought up for extortion was not orchestrated to coincide with a violent murder.

Bolded by me. lonetraveler, time will tell but my gut is telling me that the AL "forces that be", who have supposedly been working on this extortion case had the goods they needed before 5-31-10 but didn't want to make a spectacle of themselves.

The murder of Stephany in Peru gave them a window of acceptance to publicize their efforts in a way which would be accepted by their constituents in ALA, imo.

That makes sense to me. If he enticed her in there just to grab the money, killing her right away is logical.

Betty P, thanks so much. Another of the many things I hadn't known before Websleuths.

No problem, happy to help. I got caught up in this news story late last night and the only news accounts available at that hour were from SA and the Netherlands. Google Translator isn't perfect, but the Spanish/English online dictionary helped. I studied Spanish in HS and college and traveled some in Venezuela and Aruba. There's a lot of variation in words used in different Spanish-speaking countries.

What could they have done? Since the FBI was working with Aruba, and he was there at the time of the extortion attempt, they're the only country that could have done anything. Aruba authorities could have taken his passport and prevented him from leaving the island.

The FBI can't do anything to him unless he comes to the US.

They don't know where he was at the time of the extortion attempt, the initial 15 grand was sent to the Netherlands, nothing that the FBI could do except wait for him to enter the US.

I saw an interview with one of Stephany's friends who said that Stephany was afraid of something like this happening to her. Afraid of the element at the casino's. She also said that she would never go to a hotel room with anyone.

Finally got caught up reading,,,,eyes half shut, it is time for me to go to bed,however,,,I wanted to leave yall with an interesting tidbit I found in his flicrblob,phota bucket type thingy,,,,On the bottom of the page of his myspace page it says ""ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME"""",,,,sound familiar to anyone???????????????

I think they might give him a big push! He seemed so complacent today, but now he's been spending the night in the Chilean detention.....oh how I wonder if reality has set in yet. Tomorrow will be another day, and a new jail. As I said before, he'll probably wish he was incarcerated in Aruba for Natalee's death before long.... :behindbar MOO

:seeya: have a good night everyone!

<snipped>

It's been five years since her daughter Natalee disappeared, but Beth Holloway holds out hope the family whose daughter was found dead in Peru will get something she has yet to receive – closure and justice.
Sympathy to Natalee and Stephany's family-my thoughts and prayers are with you!!

From various articles:
Sunday 5:20AM - Stefany and Joran seen going into his room
8AM Joran left the room
8:40AM Joran returned with two coffees, then left with two bags (I think a rucksack & a suitcase)
