Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that you were suggesting that. But I saw rumblings about that on the thread, and jumped off your post.

No, we don't know the accused's history. But we do know that he has never spent time in custody before. Which suggests, to me, that he is not a convicted sex offender. As, in Victoria, there is a mandatory custodial order for those who commit rape or sexual offences against children.

Not sure we would know if he’d been done as a minor - those records (in Vic) are almost always sealed.

Perhaps relevant, perhaps not.

If there is any of SM's DNA in his car, how could it have gotten there? and was he capable of transporting with... what should we say "surgical precision?"

The accused's vehicle would have to be used, unless he put her over his shoulder and ran with her

Hair is very hard to get rid of inside a car, it sticks

Saliva as well is hard to see, then you have blood

I just hope there is some good news this week and the police find poor SM

And some more important info coming in

I think about her lying out there somewhere all this time by herself in the elements

Did she suffer ? Was she abused ?

Horrible for a lady to just want to go out and enjoy herself, probably wanted some peace and quiet after a busy work week, keeping fit and going for a quick run,
and then she was going to enjoy the rest of the day with her family
But this dreadful situation happens to her, and It's still unfolding.
Unfairly taken away !

We don’t know for a fact that Sam had earbuds in but they were an item listed to search for in the volunteer searches ( listed under the heading Hazards and Risks) so I think it can be inferred that the family and police believe she might have had them.

Do we know for a fact that she had headphones/earbuds in?

There is a vast difference between headphones and earbuds ,
Runners will typically wear the tiny lightweight inobstrusive discreet ear buds ….wearing headphones would be most unlikely .

Your point? The fact is that they are not mentioned by Chief Commissioner Shane Patton in his statement. Why have they been omitted and why are the police no longer mentioning them?

Why would the Chief Commissioner mention headphones when they are not on the police radar ?
My point is accuracy in reporting .. IMO MSM loosely used the term ‘headphones ‘, when they most likely were thinking ‘earpods’.

I think it is safe to assume that we are not talking about headphones but instead little wireless Ear buds or Apple AirPods.

Probably in the scheme of things they are less important than the phone and watch because they (probably) don’t yield as much data.
However if they were found, the location would be indicative of where Sam and or the alleged perpetrator might have been.

Thanks everyone for the clarification on whether Samantha was wearing any form of "device that you use in or on your ears".

Samantha was clearly not wearing over the head type headphones in the CCTV footage of her leaving, but it wouldn't be out of the question to grab them from say the car on her way out. Likely? Probably not. Possible? Yes.

I personally would hate chunky, heavy headphones on when running, but I have seen several runners who do choose to wear them. Each to their own I guess.

They may also show fingerprints or DNA of some sort.

The article above alleges:
"Some of those closest to Mr Stephenson, including his former St Patrick’s College classmates, told the Herald Sun he was often on the outer and that he struggled with his mental health. They said welfare staff at St Patrick’s College dealt with frequent “outbursts”. He was described as showing some eccentric behaviour and was sometimes bullied at school. Those former classmates said his mental health concerns were well known."

Signs of potential impending trouble IMHO. Potential mental health issues, struggles with self control, being bullied, and maybe bullying in return. Maybe turning to drugs and alcohol, and alleged wild partying can be signs of fighting internal feelings. Perhaps an undiagnosed personality disorder of sorts?
I like this, it is succient.

Moo...anger management, we do not know his home life. I lived with a fella, he had been convicted for attempted murder and rape at 17. Met him when he rent upstairs apartment. His family was religious and professional business owners. Of course there is a back story. The police put restraining orders against him I never did..I probably wouldn't of. Anyways he suicide shortly after 3rd restraining order breach. He was scared of himself he was tormented by what he had done, and scared of his random anger. He was actually quite a nice person.
Figure this will be removed cause not on subject. but this might be a one off, just hung over or still buzzing, lack of emotional control. Moo

I wonder what data digital forensics folks are able to recover from earpods. If they’re able to access a history of, for example, when they connected or disconnected from a device, may help narrow in on a time when/if the phone was destroyed as it would’ve forced a disconnect from Bluetooth. If they know when the phone was destroyed, perhaps they may be able to figure out where it was destroyed.

This is not at all my field of expertise, however, so I don’t know what data can be gleaned from Bluetooth devices.

Prison is full of folks who had a 'one off'....The thing is, they never know when their next 'one off' is going to land. They can't tell you what set them off. Lots of them love their 'random anger', it feels powerful and thrilling..

So they can't actually live in ordinary communities, because people, and let's face it, it's mainly women, and children, are not safe. I have those kind of days, too. Avoided killing and raping anyone , though. Yelled at a few. Back in the day.

Probably not heaps, but Apple AirPods do have the capability to be added to their “Find My…” platform.

If they find the phone they might be able to find the AirPods (or at least their last known location).
