What is it with these parents and young kids lately? For some of them, it seems they cannot cope with an almost or a 2 year old. Yes, they have tantrums and it can test your patience, but you manage and get through it. Perhaps this isn't the reason but it seems the most likely in some of the cases I've read lately.

Prayers that this little guy is found safe...but it looks daunting. :(

    I'm also thinking Gabriel....

Being a child is beginning to get seriously dangerous...

The mother of a missing 18-month-old has been charged with cruelty to children following her arrest after Columbia police say she gave false and inconsistent information about her son’s whereabouts.

This is stated in one of the above news articles...

I'm trying to figure out how a cruelty charge is brought forth by lying to LE. (thanks for the info kseal!) Just trying to puzzle out how one equates a charge of the other.

I guess, in South Carolina, it's not ok to lie about your missing children. Hope that trend spreads.

I'm trying to figure out what statute they are charging her with and what the possible sentence of that is, and if it might interfere later on with any other charges should they want to bring them forth.

Yes I hope the trend that it's not okay to lie about your missing kids to LE spreads too.

But that's not the direction I'm looking at this....but thanks for the comment on my question.

ETA: for some reason I can't find it in the South Carolina statutes. I find cruelty to animals but not children. I'll dig more and if I find it I'll post it here for anyone else that is interested. Does SC not have a lying to LE statute during an investigation? If so, which carries a heftier penalty if conviction?

Okay found it, there is a crime stoppers posting on his find Amir Jennings facebook. In the posting it identifies the charge as Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child.

    SC statute:

63-5-70(A) -Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child

    http://scstatehouse.gov/code/t63c005.php

(wow that was the most painful search for statutes! I've ever had!)

Felony! That's what I was looking for, shew!

Because the media is reporting it as this:

We have to see if the media has the wrong statute (80 as opposed to 70) I think they might. But who knows?

Didn't see this one on here. I did scan above to make sure.

This makes me feel better, if they had charged with the statute of cruelty then they would have to have evidence to show that she possibly had already caused him bodily harm.

Just trying to hold on for hope for lil man!
