"However, State Supreme Court Justice Sanford Berland denied Ray's request, siding with Suffolk County police who want to keep the tapes confidential due to the fact that it is still an "open, active investigation."

Since the SCPD has an "open, active investigation." I wonder if it would be possible for the SCPD to have regular public press briefings. I think the public desreves to hear from the lead investigator on this case, especially in terms of resources allocated, potential POIs, the number of ongoing witness interviews, DNA results, and so on.
I know the SCPD would never give false testimony to a State Supreme Court Justice, so an 'open and active case' would likely have several investigators working full time on this case with other major resources allocated.

On the other hand, if only one detective has been assigned the file, and it lays on his desk under 50-100 other case files that the officer is focused on, most civilians would have a hard time accepting that it is an "open, active investigation."

If the SCPD, believes this case is unsolvable without significant new evidence or witness information, and they are waiting, then they should say so. The public can handle the truth.

Ive only started watching the show Killing Season today April 30 btw which I find kind of funny because I believe that was a significant date in the Shannon Gilbert case which is what i am commenting on. I had watched Lost Girls on Netflix and was intrigued and saddened about how missing sex workers cases were handled and then I came across Killing Season through watching first Killer Ledgends and Cropsey which were both great documentaries. When I watched Lost Girls I immediately thought this was for sure a cover-up of some kind within this close-knit wealthy community. I posted on here because I am on episode 3 and I am getting the hint that Shannon of course was the catalyst for these Jane Does, John Doe and identified victims of LISK but I strongly believe there are indeed two killers and that she stumbled upon a secret of some sort both literally and metaphorically. i believe she was in the wrong place at the right time for these women who would have never been found if it wasn't for her going missing. i think she was apart of a larger conspiracy in the community that was kept secret until she went missing and that she was meant to expose someone or individuals who were getting away with something for way too long and now things begin to unfold. like an individual or individuals (because she said they are trying to kill me) chased her into the mass grave to finally open it up. and in the show her sister said she graduated early being well educated so i wouldn't be surprised if they considered why not let the one who knows it all blow the lid off this thing that's been overflowing for way too long. i think someone was definitely trying to expose a killer. and another thing i just thought about if there are two rival killers why wouldn't 1 killer try and expose another or even themselves too? like a cop randomly walking his dog finds remains in a mass grave that had been there for how long? maybe someone dug up remains on purpose? idk my mind has gone into a frenzy over this and idk why but i just thought i would share my theory on this i know its been years of this investigation but hopefully it will shed light on new questions or even unanswered ones.

This is my first time on here too. I’m from LI. This case has really so many twisted theories!
Very interesting, I can understand a lot of what you’re saying !
Some things seem so obvious to us all ! Yet... we can’t really prove too much. Lack of evidence given to the public. Too much too late. Waiting for people to pass away first ? Twisted case !

Just something I'd like to add in here just in case it wasn't mentioned before re: the 911 call.

When JRay mentioned that the SCPD and the ME were both inaccurate about what they they heard on the 911 call, I started thinking it was odd and wondered why the "ME" would also not be forthright in what they heard.

I found that shortly after Ray aired this info publically- that the ME was no longer employed w SC/ME office.
I believe she now works in NJ and became a software engineer which again is odd...going from a MD to an software engineer?
Not sure if it's of any importance, but she (a female) also altered her name just a bit by removing a letter off her name.
" H J Childs MD"
Exactly !! I wonder the same thing... as well as many other questions I have !

It doesn’t take long to do genetic genealogy. I bet Hart and her friends have not submitted dna to the appropriate channels for genetic testing as she claims she would in her belt press conference. Yes,
Valerie M has been identified but what is the status on the others? It doesn’t take this long.
And Why in the heck have they Still not released the 911 call?
Why not release the name(s) of the drifter who was with JB that night?
Why hasn’t anyone spoke with the drifter? Is he dead now also?

Brewer has confirmed via Jon Ray that "the Drifter" was not at his house that night/early morning. And his identity is well documented at this point.

DURING my former son in law's case I learned that the DA's/Burke chief informant (Joseph A. Careccia) was Burke's neighbor living only 4 doors down from him in Smithtown/St.James, on a quiet street of only 12 homes - or where everybody knows your name (Cheers).

The neighbor was the subject of another informant named Peter Ghattas. Cops picked him up and 3 weeks to the day they brought him to Spota's office he was killed. The case has never been solved and it was in 2003.

A VERY good source close to many investigations is the FEDS will NEVER re-open the case because they fooked it up so much the embarrassment would be too much to bear.

Unfortunately you can't just roll someone into the spot where SG was found. She either ran to that spot or was carried there.
I agree , I live here. I’m telling you that poor girl Gilbert couldn’t run through that marsh. The Police couldn’t even het through ! They used that huge hog mower ! She was definitely put there too far in than the others as well

My understanding of the Gilbert 911 call is that it was actually the State Police (NY), that had actually had the recording (due to call being routed based on Gilbert’s possibly referencing of Jones Beach vicinity). And that that’s probably the ONLY reason that a recording exists (SCPD would have ‘lost it’ along time ago). Couldn’t State Attorney’s office just take this whole case out of SCPD involvement in?

What information could the 911 recording provide that would advance the case?

Of course the State attorney, and a number of legal entities and jurisdictions, both State and Federal, could could get involved. But possibly the political power that (is/could be) involved in this case, has tentacles in all three levels of government.

It might also tell use who was in the house when SG made the call. It might tell us if there were make voices captured on the tape. It might tell us if SG plead for her life before running out of the house. It might tell us if she promised others she 'didn't see nothing" or promise not to tell anyone. It might also explain why Robert Kolker wrote in his book Lost Girls that Brewer told them: There are going to be a lot of people (cops) with pie on their faces if the truth comes out.

Brewer hired SG for a late night party at Oak Beach. According to him or my memory it wasn't for sex. SG was an escort. The other 4 gals found dead were also working gals that advertised in Craigs List as did SG.

Brewer was 'cleared' by the PD and DA. Jimmy Bisset was also 'cleared' by Spota as a suspect in the GB4 .

Brewer was quoted in the book by Kolker saying something like if it all comes out there are going to be a lot of people with pie on their face ........blueberry, apple or raspberry?

I've been in this murder business for a long time and one thing I know is you can't eliminate a suspect unless you know who the real suspect is known- what they did, how they did it, why they did it etc., etc.
