Seems SD is doing a lot of thinking about a lot of people with his cards and money. This all within a short time after the trauma of Anni's violent death. IIRC he left SA about 3 days after Anni's death.

Botha: on your way back to CG, you attended to your own home, because Mr Hindocha was on same medication as you..

Lutchman.... Correct.

Botha: after you handed the phone to Dewani, he walks away, returns to the group still talking on the phone (Lutchman receives call from Tongo, Dewani overhears and asks to speak to him.)

Botha: there could be various reasons why he moved away, he could've been polite not to talk on phone in company

Lutchman: possible.

Lutchman: he didn't give reasons for wanting to go shopping. He did view the body after the post mortem. (this was actually Dewani going to meet Tongo at the Waterfront bridge, Tongo didn't turn up after 2 hours SD waited, Tongo couldn't get transport, that's why Tongo called to change venue to meet.)

Botha: you received thank you card with R500 from Dewani...

Lutchman: if he did give me R500 I would have to declare it.

Lutchman: There was no money in. He handed the card in prescence of Mr Dewani snr and Mr Hindocha.

Botha: he also wrote a thank you card to staff at the Cape Grace and gave them a R15k tip.

Botha: clip shows that he also gave an envelope with thank you card to Mr/Mrs Patel from the Hindu temple.

Lutchman: possible, but not in my presence

Botha: did Mr Dewani mention to you any of the holiday plans that they had?

Lutchman: NO

Botha: wouldn't it have been strange if he mentioned his holiday plans to you while police were searching for his wife?

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 12m12 minutes ago

Judge: was there anything suspicious about Dewani's behaviour?

Lutchman: no.

SD a man who likes to flash the cash, but hires a cheap cab driver and helicopter ride, and then, we're led to believe, short changes him.

Yes, the inconsistencies are piling up. :dunno:

1207
PB: SD will also say that as a thank you, he gave the staff a tip of R15 000 for their efforts.

VL says he does not know about this.
1208

Judge asks VL if, in his dealings with SD, there was anything suspicious about the businessman's behaviour.

VL says no.
1209
VL asked if SD told him about the holiday plans the couple had. VL says he wasn't told about plans.

PB points out that it would have been strange for SD to do so under the circumstances.

VL agrees.

1210

PB: You were also stationed at Mitchells Plain and Simon's Town?
VL: Yes.
1211
Would it be correct to say that lots of murders have taken place there, asks PB.

VL says he isn't sure about that.
1213

PB: Are you aware of similar incidents in the past, where taxi drivers rob overseas clients?

VL says it's not just overseas clients but locals as well.
1215
SD said he found it strange that Tongo opened doors for hijackers, says PB.
VL didn't think it strange.

....and USA...Las Vegas!

Yes! Another one! Did he hire an unlicensed cab in Las Vagas and flash the cash?

PS: I'm still searching the question you asked about when Mr Hindocha arrived in SA after Anni killed. :) Will find it. :p

PrimeSuspect:
Lutchman: he didn't give reasons for wanting to go shopping. He did view the body after the post mortem. (this was actually Dewani going to meet Tongo at the Waterfront bridge, Tongo didn't turn up after 2 hours SD waited, Tongo couldn't get transport, that's why Tongo called to change venue to meet.)

This shows the real deceit of the man, to do that in those circumstances, and not tell anyone present has to be unbelievable.

kevinjohnbrandt ‏@kevinjohnbrandt 18m18 minutes ago

Botha: that's the same reason why he gave Mr Tongo a card plus R1000,

VL: don't know anything about that

kevinjohnbrandt ‏@kevinjohnbrandt 14m14 minutes ago

Shrien Dewani smiles as captain, Lutchman says he gave him a card....but without money in it

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 15m15 minutes ago

Judge: you said had Mr Dewani told you there was a lot of money in the car,you would have investigated this from a diff angle

Lutchman: if the driver knows there is money in the car, they have the car hijacked, seen it before.

Judge: so the same is true if they know there are wealthy customers.

Next witness, Monde Mbolombo, the middleman, who was granted immunity from prosecution.

John Webb ‏@journojohn @cbdewanitrial 10m10 minutes ago

Judge Traverso pressed Capt. Lutchman on his belief that the investigation would have changed had Shrien Dewani mentioned stolen cash

vanessa poonah ‏@vanessapoonah01 #SABCNews 10m10 minutes ago

Mbolombo was indemnified from prosecution as a section 204 witness during Mngeni trial.

kevinjohnbrandt ‏@kevinjohnbrandt @ANN7tv 10m10 minutes ago

Dewani's sister, Preyal nods, mom, Nilam smiles

Too busy to post this morning but Mbolombo should be interesting. Thanks for the commentary guys :)

adjournment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! geeze loueeze emirates pass the gin please

Seems SD is doing a lot of thinking about a lot of people with his cards and money. This all within a short time after the trauma of Anni's violent death. IIRC he left SA about 3 days after Anni's death.

Were these cards used by Shrien to bribe them but without money they were useless anyway but what was the point??? IMO it shows he was guilty.

vanessa poonah ‏@vanessapoonah01 #SABCNews11m11 minutes ago

judge asks if witness has been cautioned....

In this case there are five charges. Mbolombo was only indemnified on two charges during trial of Xolile Mngeni.

judge adjourns after explaining to Mbolombo that the indemnity only applies to the charges of conspiracy, illegal.

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 11m11 minutes ago

Judge warning Mbolombo that he has to give evidence openly, honestly.

Judge explains he will only be granted indemnity from prosecution on the other charges if he testifies satisfactorily here

Judge says MM to be granted immunity in this trial if he tells the truth? How does anyone know what the truth is????
