SEGUIN, TX (KXAN) — Sunday at 10 p.m., officers with the Seguin Police Department got information about the possibility of human remains at the residence on the 900 block of Anderson Street. During a search, the remains were found inside a bedroom.

SPD posted on their Facebook account at 2 p.m. Monday about the remains and that an investigation is now underway. They said police officers first got to the home where this all happened before 11 p.m. on Sunday night.

Investigators have yet to determine the identity of the person.

After searching the property, police believe human skeletal remains were inside the bedroom. Police also say they believe the remains were that of an adult.

Police did not give any details about the person's age or gender.

Seguin authorities say two people, a mother and daughter, are both currently living in the home. Police also said there were six calls for service recently, including calls about a runaway and a call for a civil matter regarding cars in the roadway.

Police also said neighbors are being cooperative in the investigation.

No one has been arrested in connection with the discovery of the remains.

Hmm, this will be interesting to follow. Mom and daughter. Report of a runaway. Now a skeleton? This is odd.

Likely a relative of the two women?
Wouldn't be the first time a death goes unreported, for various reasons.

police believe that the skeletal remains are those of an adult.

Nichols added that there is no indication that the skeleton remains are related to the child abuse case.

A mother and daughter live at the home and have been interviewed, according to Nichols. Nichols said no one has been arrested and said it is difficult at this time to determine if this will become a criminal investigation.

Nichols added the remains have been in the home for a "long time" and stressed citizens should not be concerned for their safety.

Remains in a bedroom there for years -- sounds like the big reveal in a short story.

My guess is an elderly individual that lived at that address. Likely related to current residents. I really don’t understand how anyone could live in a two bedroom house with a skeleton in one bedroom. And presumably it has been there, decomposing, since the time of death? Eek.

I'm wondering if the info we have been given is incomplete. Were the remains under floor boards or behind a wall in the bedroom or something? Was this a hoarders house and the victim buried under items in the house? I can't understand how people could knowingly continue to live with a corpse. Unless they are mentally ill or hiding the body for a criminal reason. It's baffling and this is the second case like this I have posted about here (another one was in Ohio I think but I can't find that thread).:confused:o_O

the 2008 street view has a swing set in front of house. no idea of the relevance of that observation though!

Eleven years ago (2008) Alyssa Camarena's younger sister, D.C., most likely would have been around the age group of children who enjoy swing sets. There may have even been grandchildren.

The obvious criminal reasons, both violent and not, come to mind. I'm leaning toward thinking this might end up being a case of someone failing to report a death in order to continue collecting a check issued to someone who is deceased. Although, it could also be a failure to report b/c of illegal immigration. I just can't shake the hunch that this body, the death perhaps, may have been the topic of argument when Alyssa left home. It may also be the reason she was "located safe". There's a tipster out there somewhere. It'll be interesting watching this play out.

Us, the general public, being given partial info? As if that ever happens. :D:p

There's an elderly lady and an adult woman listed on that address.
I doubt it's the 40-something woman who's been running away, so...

I think you’re implying something that is probably obvious, but I’m missing it. I’ll prepare to feel dumb.
Anyone underage wouldn’t be listed though, right? So theoretically it could be to 40 year old’s daughter that has been running away and the elderly lady is now the skeleton?

Alyssa's age was reported to be 29 when she disappeared earlier this year in April. I don't know her age but apparently Alyssa has a sister. Whether she lives at that address and has since April is unclear. I don't know her age but her first initial is D. with the last name Camarena.

Not sure if they are related somehow, but the people living at this house are not Hispanic.
