GUILTY TX - Eight bodies found in trailer in San Antonio, 23 July 2017

This is so disgusting. I cannot read the comments but can only imagine.

Three threads on this story, Mods likely to shuffle 'em together soon.

RIP, Guests in the US, I"m sorry your trip did not work out as planned.

(I'm serious, hope that doesn't sound snarky.)

The are PEOPLE....I don't care their immigration status right now. That_ can be dealt with later for the ones still alive, but PEOPLE DIED!!! It's frightening to think what they've endured. One report said could have been 100+ people might have been in that truck. I hope the cameras were able to get the vehicles that picked up people as well.

This should be thoroughly investigated. These were not just random people wanting to cross the border. This was a cheap work force for some company. IMO.

Death toll now 10. So sad...

The Latest: 10th person dies after being found in hot truck

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-truck-deaths-suspect-charged-monday-48815391

Federal authorities say a 10th person has died after being discovered in the back of a sweltering tractor-trailer in Texas.

Prosecutors said in a statement Monday that the person died at a hospital. Nearly 20 others were hospitalized in dire condition after they were found in the truck outside a San Antonio Walmart early Sunday.

a lot of your post is def possible, but one thing is it is not easy to come here because you have relatives here.

This same thing happened several years ago, IIRC. It wasn't fully investigated at that time, just arresting the driver, etc.

The people seen on camera picking up people from the trailer is suspicious. If these were people who had relatives in the US already, they would be able to enter the US legally, right? I think DHS needs to look into whether there are businesses in the US who are paying to have groups of people brought in for cheap illegal labor.

JMO, if they follow the money trail far enough, they'll find some big businesses playing a role. Let's say a contractor who supplies workers/service to a chain of retail stores, produce warehouses, etc. takes orders for workers and brings them to the US. After arrival, a phone calls are made and the various business partners in the scheme arrive to pick up however many workers they need.

the 20 people who remained hospitalized were in dire condition.

The two survivors told Guatemalan officials that they crossed the border by foot at Laredo and boarded the trailer. They said their final destination was Houston.

At least three of the dead were from Mexico.

Authorities have not said where the people in the truck were traveling to or from. Their names have not been released, but all of the dead are adult men. Many of the victims were in their 20s or 30s, but police have said two of them are 15.

Based on initial interviews with survivors, there may have been more than 100 people in the trailer, many of whom are thought to have fled or been picked up

I don't care if they were people or animals. All life is precious to me. This is the absolute in depravity. The driver is only the tip of the iceberg. They need to get every level in this ring.
Horrific news now: Kids taunting a man and not even calling for help or reporting his death and now this?! What a horribly cruel and vile world we live in.

Sorry slightly OT, but the roofers critically injured while roofing a new home in a development in Jax, FL during a thunderstorm are probably all illegal as well. So they're treated horrifically because they cannot complain. There's no consideration for life anymore... http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/2-struck-by-lightning-while-on-the-roof-jfrd-says/458276934

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report, Melsar Lopez, Gomez Martinez and Salatiel Vasquez and were hit hit by lightning. Vasquez fell off the roof after he was struck. Workers brought Martinez and Vasquez off the roof while others performed CPR on Lopez until rescue personnel arrived.

Survivor of deadly trailer trip to S.A. said Zetas Cartel helped people cross the Rio Grande

People close to the Zetas Cartel helped some immigrants cross the Rio Grande, according to one man who survived the drive inside a sweltering tractor-trailer from Laredo to San Antonio late Saturday.

Ten people who were inside the trailer have died and dozens were taken to area hospitals.

Details in a criminal complaint against James Matthew Bradley Jr., the 60-year-old trailer driver, give an idea of what transpired in the days leading up to the deadly drive to San Antonio.

James Matthew Bradley Jr. says he had no idea dozens of undocumented immigrants were stuffed inside the brutally hot semi truck he was driving.

That's the story he told federal investigators, who clearly don't believe him. The 60-year-old Florida man is charged with knowingly transporting undocumented immigrants. The assistant public federal defender who is representing Bradley couldn't be reached for comment on Monday.

A survivor from the trailer, who has not been named, said he was part of a group of 28 people who paid $700 each to be sailed across the Rio Grande on a raft.

After being taken across the river the man said his group were loaded into the trailer, which had a broken air conditioner, along with up to 170 others.
The survivor said the group sat in the trailer without moving from Saturday morning until around 9pm, when they set off for San Antonio.

It was during that journey that air in the trailer began to run out, and the group started banging on the walls to alert the driver.
