BREAKING: A 40-year-old Williamson County cold case victim has been identified

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a break in a 40-year-old cold case commonly known as the “orange socks” case.

According to WCSO, the victim — a woman whose body was found in a Georgetown-area ditch on Halloween 1979 — has been positively identified.

Crucial break in the 40 year old case commonly referred to as “ORANGE SOCKS.” Victim is now positively IDENTIFIED after 4 decades. A press conference is scheduled tomorrow August 7th @ WilCo SO ,2pm. Expect official press release in the morning. No other info until conference.

Yeah, DDP took her case on last year but due to the low quantity of DNA, it took a year for them to finally succeed with sequencing the DNA. The DNA has ONLY been on GEDMatch for about a month so one of Orange Sock’s close relatives must’ve been on there or DDP is just THAT good. Great job to all of the people working this case. It’s been a long ride. Maybe they’ll let us know more about whether or not Henry Lee Lucas killed her.
