For some reason, I can't stop thinking about Pawel's mum today. I haven't read anything about her recently or seen her mentioned anywhere - I just keep imagining if my own son was on trial for rape and murder, and hearing all these witness statements of all the other sickening things he's done... How unimaginably heartbroken she must be. I do feel empathy for her; I remember how shocked she appeared to be when he was first arrested for all the voyeurism charges etc.

Edit: typo

I agree. This cannot be easy on his mum and family. It must be hard to accept even with cold hard facts.

Why you feel empathy for me ??
I just share my point view ,my "visions "are no better or worst than yours
We don't know if he thrown her in the river, there is no hard evidence of that
And exactly if there is not big signs of drowning she could walk to the river on her own and lie down in the water on the riverside and slowly die there from cold then river rise and took her body away (btw there wasn't any shoe print on the ground?)

I have empathy for you because you seem to want to believe that he isn't guilty of murder and I think you will at some point have to accept that he is.

You mentioned in an earlier post that Pawels wife had moved on and was in a new relationship. Do you have a link for that information please?

Forensic scientist called to give evidence
Nicola Taylor is now giving evidence.

She has worked as a forensic scientist since 2000. She has experience in cases involving identification of DNA profiling and scenes of crime examination.

She says when DNA profiles do match, a match ratio can be calculated.

Mrs Taylor said: “The likelihood of a match is that it is a billion times more likely to be a person than a person unrelated to them.”

'A billion times more likely DNA is Relowicz's'
One of the exhibits Mrs Taylor looked at was a high vaginal swab from Libby’s body.

She said sperm cells were detected on the swab and a full DNA profile matching that of Pawel Relowicz was identified.

“It is a billion times more likely the profile was that of Relowicz than anyone unrelated to him,” she said.

She said an explanation would be that Relowicz had sexual intercourse with Libby.

Libby's broken watch
Another exhibit Mrs Taylor looked at was Libby’s watch which was recovered from Haworth Street.

She says she found a mixed DNA profile of Libby, Mrs Faulkener who found the watch and the officer she handed it into at the police station.

Mrs Taylor said: “All of these could be accounted for.”

She says DNA matching Pawel Relowicz was not found, but that does not mean he did not touch it as his DNA could have been removed by the handling of the watch by other people.

Why do you feel the poster wants to believe he is not guilty? Most posters on websleuths are interest in crime and criminal process ...and peoples opinions vary?

Grass stains on Relowicz's jeans
Jeans recovered from Relowicz's wardrobe smelt of washing detergent and “had remnants of grass stains on both knees.”

Mrs Taylor said there was no DNA profile identified that would assist with the question of whether Relowicz wore the jeans when he came into contact with Libby.

She says the exhibit was “inconclusive” in terms of what might have occurred.

She said: “The grass stains could be explained by Mr Relowicz kneeling on grass as he was wearing them.”

I don't think that the possibilites one offers are necessarily an indication of what one wants to believe. They certainly aren't in my case, anyway.

I must admit to sharing @mrazda71 feeling about this.

DNA found at previous crime scenes
A condom was found on a child's toy in Chester Avenue, and although no semen was found, there was a DNA profile match for Relowicz inside and outside the condom.

There was a DNA match for Relowicz on the door of Wellesley Avenue.

Relowicz's DNA was also found on underwear in Ventnor Street.

Full DNA profile found
Semen staining was also found on the crotch region of one of the pairs of underwear from Ventnor Street, which showed a DNA profile of Relowicz as a “dominant contributor” as well as another male.

In another pair, a chemical in saliva was found in the crotch, showing a full DNA profile for Relowicz.

I must admit to sharing @mrazda71 feeling about this.

I just wondered why? ...generally (most anyway) posters on websleuths are interested in crime , court , evidence etc and have no real investment in the defendant? Not really comfortable discussing other posters but I just felt uncomfortable with that post and wanted to try and understand it.
Having said that I'm not going to comment on it further fearing thread disruption...only to say I share a lot of the views ..personally I have no interest in the defendant at all only the crime ...I have deep sympathy for libby and her family but have no emotional investment in her personally
My interest is crime

Relowicz might have worn knickers
Mrs Taylor says the findings could suggest that Relowicz had contact with the underwear. She said: “In my opinion this distribution of cellular material and bodily fluid suggests he had intimate contact with the knickers, maybe that he was using them to masturbate or had worn them.”
