Relowicz denies knowing where he was taking Libby

Relowicz says he kept asking Libby for her address.

Mr Wright says the CCTV doesn’t show any hesitation in Relowicz’s driving.

He said: “I was trying to slow down at the junction and she said something like ‘over there.”

Mr Wright said: “These are lies you’re telling us aren’t they? You knew exactly where you were taking Libby Squire from the moment she got in your car.”

Mr Wright said: “Can you help us as to how you thought you were helping Libby Squire sitting in your car with your door open as she was on the floor at the entrance to Haworth Street?”

Relowicz responded: “She was sitting on the pavement and the car arrived and they started talking these ‘wide boys’ or ‘cocky boys’ started laughing and joking around I was simply waiting for her in case they did harm to her so I was waiting and looking.”

In his police interview Relowicz said he wanted to help “but no more than necessary because if they were there longer he would have driven off and not give a s*** about it.”

Relowicz said: “I wanted to help because she wanted my help. I was thinking about taking her to the police station but I wasn’t sure what to tell them. I could only understand simple words like ‘hello’ ‘how are you?’ and ‘are you alright?’”

Mr Wright has told the court Relowicz did not have his phone.

He said: “You left your phone at home when you were out driving around Hull that evening. Although you used it to access when you were at home you also left it at home when you went out later.”

Relowicz put seatbelt on Libby as she was 'drunk so could open the door at any time'
Mr Wright has asked what the delay between the first and second unlocking of the car was.

Relowicz said: “The first time was when the Scenic drove off, leaving her and she started trying door handles. I got out of the car and went to tell her it wasn’t my car she was trying.

“That’s why I pressed two or three times so the lights lit up and she could see. I asked her about the address a few times.”

Mr Wright has reminded Relowicz he told police Libby “jumped into” his car.

He has said today she “got into” the car.

Mr Wright said: “We have not just watched footage of someone jumping into the car.”

Relowicz said: “You can’t see anything there. I was asking for her address, I did her seatbelt and that was it.”

He has repeated that he did her seatbelt “for safety” and “if she sat down and I had the ignition on an alarm would go off saying the seatbelt was not on".

He added: “She was drunk so she could open the door at any time while I was driving.”

I said this before, but too drunk to do up a seatbelt is seriously incapacitated surely.

He said: “It’s dawned on you hasn’t it that when her body was pulled from the water, she was wearing her knickers? It’s dawned on you hasn’t it that her taking them off and last seen walking up the road holding her knickers does not fit the evidence.

“You know she was found in the position with her shoes on and the suggestion she managed to get, in the state she was in, her knickers over her shoes is ridiculous.

“When you’re raping somebody in a state of excitement you just pull them to one side don’’t you Mr Relowicz?”

An interpreter has said Relowicz has told him he was apologising to him for something.

Mr Wright says: “You have given evidence to say Libby Squire scratched your face because you wouldn’t kiss her because of the saliva on her mouth.

“That girl scratched your face because she was desperately trying to get you off her wasn’t she? You weighed 14 stone, you were a fit young man who worked as a butcher.

“She was a drunk, upset, hypothermic, young girl. And she was no match for you at all was she? The most she could do, as you attacked her, raped and killed her was land that scratch on your face Mr Relowicz.”

Absolutely agree and this is why I assume he went against counsel advice as who would put him on stand?

It has been a nightmare. But I guess the DNA from Libby limited his choices quite a lot.

I don't understand what he thinks he stands to gain by changing his story now?

If he admitted having sex with her in his defence statement what does he think the benefit of changing up the minor details now?

Its really confusing me, but then I suppose it is fruitless to try to understand the workings of a rapist and "alleged" murderers mind from a "normal" person standpoint.

ETA i missed the update about her being recovered with her knickers on and guess that explains why. I'm about lost for words at this point.

The report didnt say it was in Polish it gave an english name, so though there could be any nationality on it he was most likely speaking in english imo.
