With respect to your thinking it doesn't mean that at all.
My adult son was found in possible suspicious circumstances .
The coroners's assistant explained to me what would follow after the initial inquest opening (which revealed COD )
This was as explained the other day in the case of NB " to evaluate " wasn't it ?
The Inquest date was set for 9 months later and an open verdict was returned .
So sorry to hear about the loss of your son

Thanks for that. As this is the same ITV that is under fire for directly contacting PA on the day Nikki's body was found, together with Sky, forgive me if I have absolutely NO confidence in their ability to report with any accuracy. I can find no other reference to HOFP, even in the press release from the Coroner. Merely reference to 'a pathologist' - ie the one who carried out the PM. No criticism of you - just the shocking standard of 'journalism' in this country.
This is a good and, respectful, podcast about the media storm over this case - worth a listen Apple podcast re media from the Guardian They have an android version too .

I, as do most of us, still cannot wrap my head around the events of this case. We can speculate until we are blue in the face. I am stubborn and have been trying to understand for the life of me how no one saw or found her in the water being that the search started within hours, witnesses were there within 15 mins, and the water was not that high. I guess I had gotten my hopes up NB was safe, trying to sort through things and her girls would have their mum home soon. I hope the family rallies around those girls, and each other and holds the memories of NB close to their hearts.

I agree re no one finding her in the initial, promptly organised search. It’s puzzling.

Strava Data will prove NB never ever walked close to the water...IMO
I'm curious as to why you've formed that opinion. I ask because I don't know what strava data is, but a quick Goog said something about GPS. Not sure if that's what you're talking about or not but would like to hear more on how you've formed your opinion.

I don't know how Strava data gets into the program.

Does it upload from Fitbit/fitness watch automatically? (when the person opts for it to be)

Or does it have to be entered manually, like when I tell fitbit how much water I drank? (because the device can't determine that on its own)

Or some other way? (I assume it doesn't require a separate device aside from a phone and/or fitbit/fitness watch?)

Would the fact that NB didn't seem to have recorded any walks on Strava since last November not mean that there was nothing registered on that day, though?

My thoughts also.

Where does anything say that a HO FP has been involved?
Standard practice for bodies recovered from water because of potential of jumping to water = drowning conclusion.

I’ve explained more fully upthread when this was previously discussed.

What a revolting man:

“Once out of sight, the cameraman creeps into a field next to the River Wyre, in Lancashire, and crouches down to secretly record what is happening on the opposite side, where a drone is hovering overhead and police are pulling a potentially tragic discovery from the reeds.”

“This is the reason he is here, after all — the potential ‘money shot’.”

Isn't it funny how the Daily Mail find this so abhorrent, whilst at the same time plastering this image all over their paper of the exact same scene (picture 8).

I'd be interested to know if the police have got the Fitbit. The statement indicates they've taken other evidence away for evaluation and given they haven't asked people to keep looking for it makes me cautiously optimistic they have it. If they have and can get the data they'll know the time of her last steps, the time she entered the water as her hear beat will have increased and her time of death as it will stop recording her heart beat. From this they may well be able to provide some clarity to the family and certainly rule out some options. Incredibly sad story, for the kids I guess the least bad option is a sad accident

Specialist divers who failed to find Nicola Bulley have been removed from the National Crime Agency expert list

The specialist diver who claimed he'd find Nicola Bulley if she was in the River Wyre has reportedly been removed from the National Crime Agency's experts list.

Peter Faulding's Specialist Group International (SGI) has assisted in several high profile investigations and joined the search for the missing mother for three days before he sensationally guaranteed she was 'not in that section of the river'.

According to The Times, SGI was this week dropped from an official list of experts recommended to assist in investigations on the Expert Advisers Database.

An internal review is expected to be carried out and could result in the group being reinstated.

A spokesman for the National Crime Agency told the publication: 'The NCA does not employ, endorse or accredit experts on our adviser database.

These are *guidelines* not Protocols.
The target users are Pathologists conducting routine autopsies on behalf of the Coroner.
If there is the slightest subsequent suspicion of foul play ('low threshold'), that pathologist will refer the autopsy up to a HO FP.
HO FP do NOT conduct all PMs of bodies recovered from water as a matter of standard practice.
Speaking as someone who worked in an area with substantial areas of water - rivers, lakes, reservoirs and leisure - I can assure you that 'our' HO FP would not have been amused to be called out for the sadly all too regular recovery of bodies from water.
That is what the hospital-based Pathologists do - routine PMs.

Does Fitbit record everything automatically or does it need to be switched on first ?
