Hi Betty,
There's a thread about the VA protest/counterprotest; the car wreck and events, at this point, are probably related.

Thanks! I was looking and couldn't find one.
ETA: Given this has now become a crime scene and people have been deliberately injured or killed, this should probably remain here or go to Crimes in the News.
A dozen medics are carting the injured back and forth on stretchers. The victims appear to be counter-protesters but could be residents, CBS News justice reporter Paula Reid reports.
The injuries range from minor to life-threatening, authorities said.
"A car appeared to deliberately mow down pedestrians," eyewitnessed tell Reid.
“Yeah, it was intentional,” said witness Dan Miller. “About 40 miles an hour, hit about 15-20 people, crashed into the two cars in front of it, and then backed up and sped away while cops were standing on the side of the road and didn’t do anything.”

Remember how this type of thing happened in other countries and it was a terrorist act. Will this be called a terrorist act?

Charlottesville police tell CBS News at least four people are injured. CBS News' Bo Erickson reports at least six people are on the ground.
In the Unicorn Riot video, you could also see a maroon minivan plow into protestors. The occupants (one an adult woman) climbed out of the minivan and ran away.
The linked thread is in the Politivent forum. The political discussion about this topic will stay in politivent. General discussion of this situation and the crimes now associated with it will stay here.
I think Up to the Minute is still most appropriate considering it is breaking and new developments are still occurring.
Using these two posts to bounce off of and lay some ground rules:
Discuss the breaking news, the MSM and this developing situation here. Members who wish to discuss the politics surrounding this situation should do so at this linked thread: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...e-Supremacy-March-in-Charlottesville-08-11-17
Another link to a still photo of the crash. Horrifying.

This is my city, our police chief just gave a press conference stating that they had the driver of the car, a male. Charged are pending and could include homicide, hate crime and terrorism type charges. It's a sad, sad day for Charlottesville, which is one of the best cities in the world. 2 Virginia State Police Employees also died today in a helicopter crash. The chopper was monitoring the situation in Charlottesville.
"As we noted earlier, one person has died. 5 patients are in critical condition, 4 in serious cond., 6 in fair, and 4 in good condition"
