HLN is really strapped for fillers. Showing a scene from the movie Chicago and trying to find comparisons between JA and 1920's woman on death row.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy sIII (so please excuse the typos!)

IDK.. I did say long time before Dr Drew that JA was puttin on the Chicago Defense :floorlaugh:

From WAT :

2 m Wild About Trial @WildAboutTrial

Jurors are at lunch. So am I. Will be back there soon. #JodiArias

10m Wild About Trial @WildAboutTrial

I made it to the kilt! Guess hwhat I am ordering? #JodiArias

But the jury clock is still ticking.. HLN

I started to respond to a post on the previous thread that was closed. Most jury rooms have self-contained "facilities" so jurors do not have to leave the jury room to take care of business ;)

I was thinking that too.

I don't think jurors are allowed out and about the courthouse w/ no bailiff present. There were no male bailiffs sworn in so who would escort a male to the bathroom? Plus, even escorted, what's to stop spectator #1 from talking across the stall to spectator #2. Does the bailiff walk in and announce "juror in the stall, all remain quiet."

:drumroll: . :drumroll: HLN CLOCK : 10 HOURS

:please::please: :please::please: don't go to 11 hours ...

Another baby (squeeze)

I'm doing my best to stay calm, cool and collected. Perhaps my time working as a litigator, and in the court system, has jaded me, but I've come to believe that there's no such thing as a case so well-proved, well-argued and clear-cut that a jury can't completely screw it up.

I've seen verdicts derailed by juries who didn't understand THE CAPTION of a case, who decided to fill out their verdict form from back to front, who disregarded all of their instructions on the law because they "went by too fast" (around here, they don't get a copy to take back with them), who began deliberations by discussing which attorney was "cuter" or "looked more honest," or decided that a discrimination victim didn't deserve any compensation even if he'd proven his case, because he "sounded cocky."

On the other hand, I've also seen juries who took a hard look at the evidence, properly applied every instruction they were given, and did a bang-up job as the finders of fact.
The problem is, you can't tell which kind of jury you have ahead of time.

I still have faith in our system, but if I was ever [wrongly] accused, you can bet I'd be insisting on a bench trial! :)

Question please....

Where are the alternates and when did they learn they were alternates?

Thank you

I know we're all a bunch of frayed nerves at this point. But, if you can, try and bear in mind that the jurors (assuming they have been following the admonition) don't know as much about this case as we do. They haven't been listening to Dr. Drew and his "behavior bureau" and NG's "Bombshells" and VP's "Bold Accusations" for months on end. Let's try and relax and see it from their point of view. Also, even though JA is evil, she is still a human being, and if I were in a position of potentially deciding that she should be killed (I know that this isn't the penalty phase, you know what I mean), I would want to make sure that I had looked at everything carefully. Simply for my own peace of mind.

There is a plus to all of this waiting...Jodi is waiting too. I hope she struggles through each second that she is sweating out the verdict in her holding cell. (She is probably still sure no jury will convict her though.)

I copied and brought this over from the last thread, since the door closed just after I posted it. Sorry to be redundant, but I think it's important.

I know that people are understandably upset with the Arias family. Some of their behavior has been very strange. But, as the CNN article "A Killer in the Family", linked and partially quoted below points out, they have been through something unimaginable too. I hope we can muster up some compassion for them and take the high road. We have not walked in their shoes. JMO

"Michael Price, a professor of evolutionary moral psychology at Brunel University in London, said people are hardwired to defend their kin, like Moore did before she realized her father's guilt.
'There will be strong psychological and emotional incentives to defend and remain loyal to the family member, and to delude and self-deceive themselves about the reality of their relative's guilt,' Price said."

Looks like the jurors are working thru lunch today, their foot was just brought in. #JodiArias

Pretty sure she meant food, not foot. :)

wow during the commercials on HLN; there is PIP in the corner of live feed of courthouse (outside)

I've never seen that before. Yay HLN! PIP when a commercial is on:
Brilliant!

No lunch for the jury today?

I'm hoping they're close and working through lunch. Maybe they're working through lunch because of starting at 10:00 (maybe one had a personal appointment).

I was on a jury last summer and we worked through lunch. We all gave the bailiff our money and the bailiff paid the delivery person.

But mainly I hope if they work through, it's because they're close.

Maybe they'll take a super late lunch just after telling the judge they have a verdict. Everyone will come to court while he jury is taking their break.

ETA. Just saw that KCL tweeted yesterday they were ordering in! I think it's a good sign they're close!
