Virginia - Coronavirus COVID-19

Virginia sees 851 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 69,782 statewide

As of Satuday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 866,257 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.

He needs to look west our county is running 11.9 to 19.6 positivity rate and very little testing.

I can't believe he has NO state plan to reopen schools. Our schools are over 100 years old in SW VA, yes we do have a few new schools but less than 5%. Most still have the old boilers for heat and some now have air conditioning. Our schools official announced online class, phasing kids in late Sept to Oct. Then the president announced he would without federal funds. Most areas this is 10%, but our schools are Title 1 and receive additional funding that we count on. Schools were forced to reverse the decison and open with kids.
And NO leadership from Northam,. He's now directed the Dept of Education to not approve or disapprove schools plans to reopen, leaving EVERYTHING up to the locality. The teachers unions are on the war path, guess they will have to blame their locality.

All my opinion....

UPDATED: COVID-19 hospitalizations, deaths rise in Prince William, 9 more lost to the pandemic

“The recent reported losses of two local residents in their 20s brings the number of local fatalities in that age group to three. Prince William Health District officials could not say exactly when the young residents died because of privacy reasons. There is generally a lag of a few weeks in reported deaths, and the VDH reviews death certificates on an ongoing basis to determine which should be categorized as COVID-19 fatalities.

In general, the Prince William Health District is seeing a rise in hospitalizations among younger people who have not yet been eligible for the vaccine, said Sean Morris, COVID-19 epidemiologist for the Prince William Health District.”
