A lot of people think the Laundries are lying when they say that Brian drove his Mustang to the Carlton Reserve on the 14th. These folks think the Laundries have helped Brian to escape, and they believe this process began on September 11, when the family went camping somewhere. My problem with this theory is this: why would the Laundries tell a lie that could so easily be exposed and land them in federal prison? If even one neighbor saw one of them (and not Brian) driving the Mustang to the Reserve, they are toast. If even one person on the road saw one of them (and not Brian) driving the Mustang to the Reserve, they are toast. If even one camera somewhere captured one of them (and not Brian) driving the Mustang to the Reserve, they are toast. Why would they tell such a lie? I don't think they would. Brian may not be in the Reserve, but I think the parents are telling the truth when they say he drove to the Reserve in his Mustang on the 14th.

Springer Mountain, GA is 603.6 miles from North Port, FL. It's approximately 8hrs and 49 minutes on the map I am looking at. So I would say IMO it would be possible.
Yes. I can't believe that the parents actually went camping when the police were looking for Gabby and he came home without her. The FBI was wanting to interview them and their son and they just pack up for a camping trip? Most people would be eaten up with anxiety and they go camping?

This is from yesterday but I had not seen it. Posting for anyone else who missed it.

How Brian Laundrie's behavior could provide clues about his disappearance
It's the question on everyone's mind: is Brian Laundrie alive or dead? It's impossible to know right now but a renowned psychiatrist believes there are some clues in Laundrie's behavior that may get us closer to the answer.

[...]

When the police got there, Gabby is sobbing as she talked with officers. Laundrie, however, was calm and seemingly unemotional.

"In terms of this disorder, they have no core values," Dr. Huysman said of someone who might display narcissistic behaviors.

Dr. Huysman says this knowledge can indicate how a person like that might react under the kind of pressure investigators are putting on Laundrie now.

"They are very likely to run away, to hide, to think they can get away with it," Huysman said.

I am curious whether that "new" camper is in fact off-the-dealer's-lot-new or just new to BL's parents. And if the camper is in fact used, was it purchased as a package - on top of a used vehicle and from a private party?

If the camper was purchased atop an older pickup, that vehicle could have been quickly traded in (using the signed over title from the previous owner) for another vehicle which was then stocked with supplies (incl. prepaid burner phones and prepaid credit cards which could be refilled online) and parked somewhere OTHER than the Laundrie family driveway. Then, on the day BL supposedly went hiking at the Carlton Reserve, leaving his Mustang in that lot, he could have actually hiked to wherever that vehicle was parked and could have driven a reasonable distance in a vehicle no one would expect him to be driving before he was even reported missing.

All speculation. IMO.

At first I thought he got on the Florida Trail and went to the Appalachian Trail. Because he seems to fancy himself an outdoorsman. With winter coming on I don't know. I had recently looked at personally vacationing in Puerto Rico. You only need a US driver's license to enter. Puerto Rico also uses US dollars so no exchange to foreign currency. I looked at flying there, but is there a boat you can take? Can you leave the Florida Keys or Miami and go by boat?

I was curious about the Florida Trail and just googled it. The article I've been skimming is something else! I realize the hottest/wettest part is probably south of where Brian Laundrie would have headed, but the description of this trail gives a glimpse of what it would be like to try to survive in this kind of atmosphere.

Here's the link, in case anyone is interested - and it comes complete with the description of finding a cadaver in an abandoned tent.

This Florida Thru-Hike Is Not for the Faint of Heart

No one, nor any cameras seem to have captured Brian driving to the reserve, either. That we know of.

IMHO, this aspect of the case is absolutely the most bizarre. Even that they decided to use it as a cover story -- if it is a cover story -- is bizarre. Your 24 year old son comes back from two months of camping, and the first thing he does is go camping with mom and dad? No, if it happened, it had to be a cover for something. I've been sort of wondering if someone is harboring him on Long Island, and they met someone halfway to transport him there. MOO.

It could have been a rental too IMO. We haven’t seen it since, or ever really

FBI back at Laundrie house; Authorities still searching for Brian Laundrie (winknews.com)
[...]

This weekend, there hasn’t been much about any new developments. WINK News Safety and Security Specialist Rich Kolko says the lack of activity could be a good sign.

“While a lot of the physical activity may be reduced as time goes on, there’s a lot of work being done behind the scenes. There’s agents writing subpoenas, conducting surveillances. Everything to build that timeline,” Kolko said.

“They need to complete the search in Sarasota so they can positively say that Brian Laundrie is not there,” said Kolko.

North Port Police told WINK News that crews have also been searching the preserve at night. The FBI announced it will now be the lead agency in the search for Laundrie and that the North Port Police Department will only be assisting.

FBI Leading.
!

One of the reasons I am convinced he is not alive is,.. he was so far out of control leading up to his disappearance... he'd slapped a woman in the street in daylight, he'd been apprehended by the police for speeding, he'd screamed himself into a standstill at a crowded restaurant at the women staff..

Then.. he has murdered his long term girlfriend, he has had to change tack and run anywhere, then home then run from home, and is now posted as a fugitive from the deeply resourceful FBI..

This is a person who's mental state is unraveled and unstable, to say the least. Not your normal hiker. He isn't out for a bit of a jog, he is, if he is alive, running from the Feds, having self obliterated his past and with no future worth a plugged nickel. An unhappy state, and not one that is conducive to careful planning and clever avoidance tactics.

Brian's entire personality says look at moi, look at moi, he can't go for this long without it.

I just don't believe he could gather himself together, re knit himself, so to speak, in any psychological way, that would enable him to be successfully hidden from view for this long, if alive.

Yeah- for all we know, he’s shaved, plucked his brows, dyed his hair blond & is sporting pink ambrosia lipstick as a trans hiker. The section of AT I know best is north GA into GSMNP & you can be SO UNSEEN for miles & miles of trail- plus adjacent tracks of National Forest & BLM land. When we first learned he headed to his neighborhood swamp, I thought AT. Still think that’s where he is. Imo

or hiding in plain sight with a new appearance. Perhaps in a city with new friends. New love interest?

The alleged camping trip was prior to Gabby being reported missing.

I lost the quote box, but

"MassGuy, post: 17132593, member: 219191" said, regarding the possibility that Gabby had his skin under her fingernails, “This is one of those cases where it wouldn't help, as he could plausibly claim that it came from a past event. That being said, I think it's highly probable she did scratch him.”

I don’t think it would be unhelpful if the crime scene suggests a fight, and there is no other dna aside from her own under her finger nails. True, it would be possible that some dna was “just” about DV and not necessarily a murder. It would be a stretch for the jury to believe she tried to fight off a random murderer, and the random murderer managed to leave none of his dna under her nails, where Brian’s dna remained?

I don’t know how hard it would be for him to drive there and either be picked up somewhere else and then travel from there. I find it to be odd that they would take him camping and let him go off if his girlfriend was announced as missing. Could they have Hansel and Greteled him leaving him to fend for himself? Giving him the option of turning himself in or trying to survive in the wilderness would actually be tough love. I wish they did that. They might have wanted him away from them and to just add confusion to the case so that actual crime gets obscured by the media circus.
