No mention of ballistics report in this media report….
But an amazing number of statements is mentioned - 135 of them!

This article states that Mittelheuser is charged with
2 counts of interfering with a corpse. I’ve not heard this before. I believe he was charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder.

Murder charges against Pheobe Bishop’s alleged killers back in court

The court was also given insight into the staggering amount of information being compiled for the police brief of evidence – more than 155 exhibits and 135 statements.

Police prosecutor Vicki Kennedy-Grills said a partial brief would be available for the defence to collect on Tuesday afternoon but the “sheer volume of statements that have been obtained and are yet to be obtained” accounted for the delay.

Evidence, Ms Kennedy-Grills said, included texts from Pheobe’s phone, scenes of crime photos, CCTV and telecommunications data.

Magistrate Nigel Rees asked whether DNA samples had been sent away to which the prosecutor replied “quite a number” had.

A brief was also being complied for the third co-accused (Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser is charged with two counts of interfering with a corpse), Ms Kennedy-Grills said.”

Sky News article from July 4….

Detectives arrested Mittelheuser, 30, on Tuesday evening outside a local fast food outlet in Bundaberg west, just a day after Pheobe was put to rest by her family during a private funeral.

He is facing two counts of accessory after the fact to murder, one count of failure to appear in accordance with undertaking and one breach of bail condition

I think that one agency has got his charges wrong

Maybe after an incident in the car, they pulled the car over, marched her out and executed her, later moving her body in the hold-all. Sorry for being gruesome.

But it means
there must have been victim's blood in the car.
Was blood found there?

In such a case,
I doubt the car would have been returned to the suspect.

Because the car was given back, right?
Or am I mistaken? 🤔

I find this interesting: “sheer volume of statements that have been obtained and are yet to be obtained
Could this suggest more people involved? Or, the defendants are talking and hence generating more statements to follow-up?

I can understand DNA and forensics taking time, but statements?

Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser is charged with two counts of interfering with a corpse)

Two charges of interfering with a corpse suggests when she was moved from where she was murdered and then from the first location in Goodnight Scrub National Park.

Does this suggest he was there when she was murdered?

The DNA/forensics lab in Brisbane is an absolute 🤬🤬🤬🤬 show. It’s been run so poorly, and there’s been so much political intervention happening as a result.

Shandee’s Story Shandee’s Legacy Episode 12: History Repeating podcast actually broke the news about what was happening in the lab, it’s been a big deal in Qld for years and it’s holding up a lot of crucial court cases.

It’s embarrassing.

Maybe they shot a wild pig when they went to move her. I know nothing about wild pigs but have heard they’re aggressive & I remember the police said that night(s) they were there guarding the area was pretty scary due to the wild animals 🤷‍♀️

There’s no way they shot her in the car or house without leaving forensics behind & if they had, I don’t think the police would have released the car & house. The only crime scene was in Goodnight Scrub National Park (none around airport). Plus we know house cleaning wasn’t their strong points. Attention to detail, as manifested in their number plate craftwork wasn’t either.

That said, remember the photo from the first location in Goodnight, people thought you could see duct tape, so maybe they did kill her there.

Ballistics is a curve ball but we’ve never known what evidence they had so probably shouldn’t be surprised I guess.

I’m still so desperately sad she didn’t make it on the plane & a possible new life in WA.

This is exactly what I think too.
Possible shot in the woods.

There could have just been an argument in the car. Or some form of overpowering PB either in the car or at the house that didn't involve blood. I have always suspected that JW was in the back seat with her. I don't see how there can have been evidence in the vehicle if it was returned.

Also, PB's case and personal effects... I believe they've never been found. Where did they ditch them?

Maybe she was alive when they got to GNS the first time and they shot her there and that was the evidence police found that confirmed they were all there? I know that is unlikely and a total curve ball but maybe a possibility?

Not necessarily. He may have been there the second time she was moved

Not necessarily. He may have been there the second time she was moved

But two counts?
Scenario 1:
She was killed at the first location in Goodnight Scub Park then one count would be moving her to location 2 (where she was found) & he interfered with her corpse after death (eek) at location 1

Scenario 2:
He helped move her from where she died (Bundaberg airport area) to location 1 to location 2 = 2 counts.

I lean towards scenario 2 as she was decomposing & wild animals involved, I’m unsure forensics could show he did something to her corpse at location 1 before moving her.

I think they hid her near the creek from the BMX track area then moved her at night to location 1, then to location 2.
