Just heard on ABC News radio.

Searchers are following tracks found near the car but the main search will be by air due to the difficult terrain and large area.

ABC NEWS

At 7am that morning, Ms Wilga sent another person a text saying she was no longer going to drop off a book and a jerry can as she had "some stuff she needed to handle".

At 4:38pm the person received a voice message from Ms Wilga saying she was on the road and apologised for not dropping the items off.

The ABC has heard the voice message, in which a female voice says: “I just couldn’t wait anymore. Uggh. I felt tired.”

My concern would be the snakes in the nature reserve. Dugite and tiger snakes would be common, both are venomous
Agree, but if it were snakes, she would not just disappear. Her remains would be found.

It’s possible she left her vehicle to get help, especially if there was no reception on her phone. she could have walked for days and gotten lost.

According to the Daily Mail the police have ruled out foul play. This must be based on the state they found the vehicle in. It has broken down and she has wandered off. I hope they are using aboriginal trackers to locate her.

Police don't use Aboriginal trackers very much these days. They did when Robert Bogucki went missing.
These days State Emergency Service volunteers are called in and the search is usually a line up of people who walk through the bush conducting the search that way.
Robert went without drinking good quality water for 12 days and about 40 days without food and IMO if Carolina simply became totally disorientated fingers crossed there is a chance she will be found alive.

ETA I do not see a trail in front of the vehicle, only vegetation? Was it parked and got stuck there ? Would be curious to see the surroundings.

In short:

Police believe missing German backpacker Carolina Wilga became lost in WA’s remote outback after her van broke down in Karroun Hill Nature Reserve.

Her vehicle was found about 35 kilometres from any established tracks, and police say there is no evidence of foul play at this stage.

35km off track in dense bush? Makes no sense

It's very easy in the outback to see what you think looks like a track or a trail and take a wrong turn.
Most likely out there, there was no GPS connection.

Some of the roads out there are just dirt tracks.

She also could have followed tracks made by animals.

It makes complete sense to me that she probably just got lost.

No, makes no sense at all, especially in that vehicle and without proper supplies, water, emergency gear.

We don't know what emergency supplies she had with her, apart from the 4WD tracks.

Police said that she was well supplied with provisions including water.

They just don't know what she took with her after leaving the car.

Travelling with a friend up northern NSW years ago we bypassed what we thought could not have possibly been a road.
It turns out it was the road.
This was a year or so before mobile phones and GPS.

The "road" we ended up on was a corrugated dirt road that even locals avoided.

It was so bumpy that I was worried some of my teeth fillings were going to fall out.

That vehicle HAS 4 speed transmission, with both 4 and 2 WD capabilities. Have I missed an article that says she didn’t have proper supplies, water, emergency gear? Or is that merely your opinion. She had recovery boards, so assuming that she didn’t have emergency gear is a bit rough.

Hi @truthfinder2019,
(IMO) 'perceived' difference in the *order vs disorder* depends if the vehicle is viewed from the front OR back; the second image you've posted is from the back.

Aerial vision of Carolina Wilga's abandoned van show how extremely remote the terrain is.

Carolina Wilga's van, which is believed to have experienced mechanical issues.

On Friday afternoon, a news helicopter captured footage of the abandoned vehicle as police continued their air and land search nearby.

The video in this article has a lot of information: Missing German backpacker Carolina Wilga likely abandoned broken-down van in outback.

Edit, removed post to Toots, the video has miraculously 'appeared', TA!

This is just so sad. I can't even begin to imagine how scared you would be out there on your own.

Does anyone have a google maps link to where Carolina's car was found.

I assume there is no mobile reception?
