"Why did the crime occur?

A personal motive was believed to be key.

Professor Jeziorski and his ex-wife, Greek economist Nadia
had been in a long-standing custody dispute over their two children – 10-year-old twins.

According to Robert,
a friend of Przemysław Jeziorski:

'Przemek got married in 2014,
and their children were born in 2015.
I think things started to get worse around 2018 or 2019.

During COVID,
his wife wanted to return to Greece,
and he agreed.
She stayed.
He, on the other hand,
took six months or nine months off from university to be with the children in Greece.

Eventually,
there was going to be a divorce.
She demanded more than half of her estate.
She didn't want to give him children.

She used methods as if she wanted to punish him for what had happened.

She led to parental alienation
and slandered him in the eyes of the children',
says Mr. Robert.

The child custody trial took place in the United States and Greece.

'During the trial,
one of the courts ruled that Przemek was to have the children with him throughout July,
wherever he wanted to take them on vacation.

To make it harder for him,
she didn't get passports for the children for a year.
This year, she did the same',
says Mr. Robert."

The professor and his ex-wife were reportedly in the middle of a child custody battle.

Professor Zsolt Katona, who ABC San Francisco affiliate KGO spoke to on Monday, released a statement, writing:

"I have learned about the news that the Greek police made arrests in Przemek's case. I trust that the investigators will continue to work diligently and justice will be served. At this point our main priority should be to give all assistance to Przemek's brother to ensure his children's well being."
Unbelievable. Orphaned children, congratulations, Mom. (If guilty)

Paraphrasing...

Who is Kristos D.?

After the divorce,
Jeziorski's ex-wife started a relationship with Kristos D.,
eight years younger than herself –

a former soldier and MMA fighter

In May 2024,
Kristos, beat Przemysław J.
The man said he knew people in the underworld,
and started threatening to kill him,
and his family in Poland.

Przemysław Jeziorski came to Greece specifically to appear in court,
which allowed him to take his children on holidays.

The murder was already being planned at that time.

:(

"Mr. Robert, a friend of the deceased, draws attention to one more issue.

'She didn't work.
She lived 100% off Przemek's money, his transfers.
He was the one paying the huge sums for school in Greece.

And I think it was about money,
because she argued so much about it.

She wanted to rip him off as much as possible,
and she used the children as a bargaining chip',
the man says.

'The tragedy is
that because of their mother,
the children lost their father.
They also lost their mother and their home.
Five people will go to prison',
concludes Mr. Robert."

"investigators believe the murder was meticulously planned by Jeziorski's ex-wife and her partner.

The couple hired two Albanians and a Bulgarian to provide transportation after the murder and provide an alibi for Christos D.
(Nadia M.'s 35-year-old partner)

During the prosecutor's hearing,
Christos D. confessed and described the crime.
'I couldn't bear to see her sad anymore.
That's why I said I'd do it. I did all of that',
he said.

Protothema reports
that the perpetrator told the men he hired
that he only wanted to scare someone.

He assured them that if necessary,
Nadia M. would cover the lawyers' fees
and they had nothing to worry about.

On the day of the murder,
the perpetrators rented a Porsche.

The rental records allowed investigators to trace the two Albanians.

After the murder,
Christos D. threw the gun and jacket in the trash and then fled to Nafplio, where he intended to hide.

Investigators found evidence incriminating Nadia M.,
even though Christos D. attempted to take the blame.

According to Protothema,
a photo of the victim taken from behind on the day of the murder, showing what she was wearing that day,
was found on her phone.

Police believe this confirms her involvement in the murder.

Immediately after the murder,
she turned off her phone and deleted all data.

Nadia M. denies any involvement in the murder.

The family of the murdered professor is seeking to bring his children to Poland."

Define ‘meticulously’…!

It was a quote from the article.
Not my words.
IMO it means "premeditated".
Oh, I’m sorry! I was being sarcastic that that was written in the article because they clearly didn’t do such the great job they thought they were going to, despite that alleged level of planning 🥲

I simply cannot understand how people can be so devious.

So,
there was a divorce.
Many pairs divorce.
But it can be done in civilized manner, right?
Without depriving children of their right to see the other parent.

No to parental alienation!!!

Children love both parents.
Children are innocent victims in divorce wars :(

Any idea when this trial is likely to take place? Also any idea about the Greek system regarding the welfare of the children? I wonder if they have been placed in foster care or have been placed with close relatives, most likely her family? They’ll require specialist support to navigate this situation.

Truly shameful….and just selfish and immature as heck, IMO. And also truly unnecessary unless REALLY warranted (substantiated abuse, etc) which is probably in a pretty small fraction of the time, I’d have to believe. Signed, single parent who has co-parented as friends to kids who deserve nothing less. Yet adding understanding that not all can do this. But to this kind of extreme, c’mon!

They are not devious. Were they legally divorced, or was the hearing meant to finalize the divorce and the kids’ future? Did she expect to get anything as Przemek’s heir, too, or were only the children legally entitled to his inheritance?

Either way, Przemek was a cash cow for Nadiya.

The way I understand, Nadiya and her boyfriend with criminal connections got used to living in style due to her ex. Przemek was an achiever, a Berkeley professor, which in itself doesn’t make him rich, but he likely had books and patents, and a startup.

And, he loved his children. A formal divorce could have, ironically, lowered Nadiya’s income. A divorce caps the child support and legally obligates the children to spend a certain amount of time with dad. Plus, Przemek was still a man in his primes, and neither another marriage could be excluded nor new children.

I think Przemek overpaid her and her new man for the chance of spending time with the kids. Such people don’t understand normal negotiations. Her initial reaction - blackmailing Przemek and tarnishing his reputation - was not forethoughtful as well, because one doesn’t want to ruin the ex’s source of income. But I think that Nadia realized that she couldn’t get “half of everything” from him, legally, and the kids were growing, 7-8 years down the road the picture would be very different, so she decided to get it all and immediately in the form of an inheritance.

A cruel case and a fantastically idiotic one as well. Essentially she organized the murder of her source of income and is now facing jail. I hope that the laws in Greece and Poland are similar, after all one citizen of EU kills another one. In the process such citizen uses services of two non-EU individuals. (Albania is a non-EU member but on the way to become one.) It tarnishes everyone’s image, especially given that the organizers involved a minor from another country as the co-conspirator.

So I hope that the Greek judge will drop the books on Nadiya’s head because, simply, without her, neither her boyfriend nor anyone involved in planned murder had any legal access to Przemek’s money. The crime was about the money, and not about the children, IMHO.

Greece is a popular tourist destination which is considered safe. Things like organizing shooting of a visitor in Athens, recruiting criminals from other countries, (now Nafplion is mentioned in conjunction with the case), don’t look good.

I find it hard to believe that he was abusive. I think US divorce laws did favor Nadiya financially, but she had to uphold her part of the deal, meaning, the children spending some time with the father. It didn’t favor her, financially. She was probably looking towards less windfall from him should the court rule in Przemek favor this time.

The Greek court also has to consider that Nadiya’s “father of the year” that the kids were exposed to and who was allowed to raise them was essentially a criminal and now is a murderer. Also, that Przemek had a good reason not to show up in Greece. Maybe in the future, such court cases should be allowed to be conducted via Zoom. Basically, all that Przemek was afraid of, happened. To me, it looks as if there was no protection for him in Greece.

I wish that he had hired a bodyguard to accompany him.
Re his ex wife - I have observed this variety of female a few times in different forms. They were abusive partners, self-centred, exploitative and did not respect boundaries - quite the opposite in fact. Clearly, no-one had said no to them throughout their lives. They targeted nice guys and guilt tripped them by using the kids against them.
In some respects, she is a more extreme example by resorting to murder but these women will go to any lengths to get their own way. I’m observing this playing out in real time in my extended family but I’ve seen it on a couple of other occasions. The men involved are tied to them for years because of the children.
I sincerely hope the kids can be rescued and grow up in a healthy environment. They’ve had good schooling and have their father’s genes. If she is being allowed contact with the kids, she will lie to them. The authorities will have a difficult balancing act. I hope they get it right.

Przemek’s petition for restraining order is posted everywhere, with details, and one can only wonder why the state of California didn’t grant him one. I think it falls on his brother to ask the Californian judge, why wasn’t a restraining order issued? Is it the judge’s laziness or the assumption that one man, a 43-year old scientist, can perfectly well sort it out with another, a 35-year old MMA fighter?

I suspect that she Nadiya plays a good mother for the whole world. Posting photos with “friends on the beach”, such stuff. But was she a truly good mother?

Her children have the advantage of growing up multi-lingual, and in the big scheme, their dad had the best plan for them. Growing up in Greece while attending US school and learning Polish. Being smart and Tri-lingual, you have the whole world at your feet. But Nadia didn’t even bother to get the passports for the kids to travel, and it was so important for their development.

P.S. a bodyguard could scare a person off, but once a “contract” for one’s murder has been put, a bodyguard is useless. In this case, the only thing to help would have been to have a Zoom court session and then, his relatives to bring the kids to the US. A restraining order would have helped a lot.

Re children's future opportunities

"According to Kowalski (a friend)
Jeziorski asked during the custody battle
that his children attend
an American school in Greece,
so that they could be able to attend high school or college in the US one day.

But his ex-wife was afraid of losing the kids much sooner,
according to the statement to police
from the principal suspect, her boyfriend."

Breaks one's heart.

BTW, Nadia (Konstantina) Michelidaki is on Linkedin, I don't know if we are allowed to link profiles here.

On the complex feelings towards one's ex, one can't comment. The sheer amount of exposure she threatened PJ with, the letters she wrote to Berkeley and the scientific community are indicative of her being a very disturbed, angry and dangerous person. But I think that her AI-generated picture of "the two dads" is very telling in that she saw PJ as the source of money. I also wonder if she was intensely jealous of him. They started equally, as EU members, same age, and yet he achieved, objectively (and in her view, financially), and she did not. The only position she held in the US was the CEO of that startup that PJ had started.

Her partner Kristos likely felt it even more intensely. The sheer amount of jealous hatred a lumpenized element would feel towards a successful Berkeley professor should never be underestimated, IMHO.
