Family raises $25K cash as reward for missing son

Family members of a missing Linn County man say they’ve raised $25,000 as a reward for any information regarding their missing son.

Chris Bagley was last seen by his family in Walker, Iowa on December 14th according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. Bagley’s father says his son’s truck is still sitting in his driveway in Walker.

In a Facebook post, Stewart Bagley, Chris’s father, offers the cash reward to “anyone that will deliver Christopher to my door before January 1, 2019 or can personally take me to Christopher’s location.”

Police say they’re actively investigating Bagley’s disappearance as a missing person case. The head of the Criminal Division for Linn County says he has 2 or 3 officers working the case, saying they’re still interviewing people for a lead on as to what happened to Bagley.

His criminal history is extensive for someone so young, public intoxication, arson, trespass, assault (more than one charge) controlled substances), illegal prescription, reckless driving, DUI, assault on peace officers, violation of probation. (IA Admin Office of Courts). Most of those activities can put you in harm's way.

Chris was last seen more than two weeks ago, having left his family’s house the night of December 13th, and then according to police someone saw him in Cedar Rapids in the early hours of the 14th. Other than that small detail there’s nothing.

“Every time we think we might have something, it’s a dead end it goes nowhere,” said Stewart.

They do believe someone picked Chris up the night he was last seen since his truck and wallet are still at his home in Walker, a sign to them that something isn’t right.

In the two weeks that Bagley has been missing, he's made no phone calls to family, sent no messages and left behind few clues as to where he may have gone. Loved ones said they are extremely worried.

"The stuff that goes through your head is just crazy," said Stewart Bagley, Chris Bagley's father. "It's nuts. I'm still hurting here. But I have got a lot of rage, a lot of anger. I'm looking to vent it on somebody."

Bagley's dad said family members have come together and raised $25,000 to help find the missing man.

"This is cash," Stewart Bagley said. "There's no loopholes. No nothing. You bring him to my house, you tell me where I can go pick him up, you message me when I have him, I'll give you the cash."

'You don't just vanish': Iowa parents wading through rumors after son's disappearance

Six Christmas presents rest on a table at the home of Stewart and Christine Bagley in this northeast Iowa city, nearby frames displaying pictures of their son.

Each has been bundled tightly in different wrapping paper — some colored green and blue, others showing Santa Claus and snowmen. Every gift was special for Christine to get her middle boy, one of four children: a pair of shoes, a necklace, a foam pillow.

During the holiday, the items sat under a tree as family members worried. They have been set aside until Christopher Bagley, 31, returns home.

A father of two young children, Bagley left his Walker home Dec. 13, kissing his wife and saying he would be back. But he never returned, and his disappearance has left his parents reeling as they wade through rumors and search areas he may have been.

If you go to his fb page you can find his mother's. She is worried to death. Some comments make me think they don't think he disappeared on his own.

“He’s alive,” Iowa parents have hope for their missing son after Jayme Closs found
Wisconsin 13-year-old Jayme Closs was found this past week, 88 days after she was reported missing.

This news gives these Iowa parents hope. “I said I hope our outcome is the same as hers.”

The Bagleys are now asking the public to, “Keep sharing his face out there, and letting people know if you see him, let the Linn County Sheriff’s Department know, any little thing.”

Stewart says, “It’s just like the girl (Jayme). They knew exactly who she was when she came walking up, and that’s because people recognize it, and that’s what it takes.”

Stewart says he’s been searching for his son every weekend. He says earlier this week, he received the message “stay away” from an unknown source.

Mother and kids speak out, desperately seeking answers for missing father

[...]

It has been 45 days since Bagley has seen her husband, Chris. Police said the 31-year-old he was last seen in the Cedar Rapids area, but beyond that there has only been speculation and rumors of what could have happen to him. Courtney said she knows there is more to this story and is desperate for answers.

"We love him so much," said Sophia Bagley. Sophia just turned four this month, but her father was not there to celebrate her big day.

[...]

She remembers the last day she saw him, December 13th, and knows something was off by the way he kissed her goodbye that night.

"He like gave me a big smooch on the lips and then he kissed my forehead, and he looked me in the eyes and said, 'I love you.' And then he sent me a text like an hour later and said I love you," she said.

Courtney and the family said it doesn't matter if he was a recovering alcoholic. Chris would not just leave his family, his life, or his dog behind, unless something happened to him.

He looked at her in the eye and said 'I love you" and then texted the same an hour later. Left without his car or wallet. I wish we hadn't seen this countless times.

Kinda reminds me of Scott Mayer
Found Deceased - TX - Scott Mayer, 47, San Antonio, 2 May 2018. He had some issues with the court (a pending civil lawsuit and unpaid property taxes) and a wife who insist(ed) he was still alive and didn't consider any order possibilities. Very sad situation.

Reading up on this case, some reports say he left with “an acquaintance” that night. The Bagley family have a FB page to share any information, on which Chris’s dad tells of being told by 6 separate individuals that his son died a “horrific death”. The family have a $25k reward out for his return.

"Bagley’s parents, searching for answers, have heard a number of rumors since he vanished. At least six people — some of whom associate with Bagley — told them they heard their son was killed in horrific ways....

Asked if Bagley might be in danger, Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner said this week that it was too early to tell. He called the case an active investigation with detectives following up on every tip, but he could not comment on specific details. ...

Stewart Bagley's mother and Christine Bagley's parents died in Decembers; another family member killed himself that month, they said. A joyous month for many, December has become a time of year Stewart Bagley wishes he could skip, he said.

"From now on, when the end of November hits, I’m burying my head in the sand and I ain’t coming out until Jan. 1," he said. "

Golly, this family has been through the ringer the past month or so.

Thank you! That’s the article I was looking for.

The Bagley family say he knew and shared friends with another missing man, Josh Wellman. Looks like they both had alcohol issues in their past, both worked in the concrete business, fwiw.

Family of Missing Man Searches for Answers

I’ve seen mention on his dad’s Facebook page that multiple people have told them that something bad has happened to Chris. The obvious question - what kind of person would make up stuff like that and tell it to his parents who are already worried sick? I’d really like his parents to join us here, at least to breathe some life into the discussion and keep it bumped up.

There has to be more that someone knows. Did he have enemies? Did he owe someone money? Is revenge from something a possibility?

Family of missing Walker man, Chris Bagley, praying for answers

At this point I guess anything is possible. It’s the timing, location and lack of info that gets me.

We know he left his home in Walker, IA at about 10PM on a Thursday night. Walker is a tiny town, population about 800. It’s north of Cedar Rapids, about 15 miles of nothing seperating. I can’t find any info about where he might have been going or who he left with, he left his truck in the driveway.

I’ve read that he was last seen about 4 hours later in the “Cedar Rapids metro” but I think that’s a little misleading. His debit card was swiped at the BP Station that sits on the outskirts of Cedar Rapids. I’m not aware of any reports that actually put him in Cedar Rapids. And really, I haven’t even seen confirmation that it was actually Chris that swiped his debit card there.

Google Maps

I guess the question I’d start with is who did he leave with? I can’t seem to find anything...

Here, they seem to refer to the BP station debit card use (Robins) and sighting (Cedar Rapids metro) as two separate incidents:

'You don't just vanish': Iowa parents wading through rumors after son's disappearance
Bagley was picked up by someone between 10 and 10:30 p.m. that Friday at his home, his family said. His debit card was used hours later, at about 2 a.m., at a BP gas station near Interstate Highway 380 and County Home Road in Robins, his father said.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing about 185 pounds, Bagley was last seen in the Cedar Rapids metro area, about a 30-minute drive south of his residence, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said. Authorities have released few other details.
