Iowa doesn't have the death penalty. It's a mandatory life sentence without parole for being found guilty of 1st degree murder.

My mind can't comprehend how two different adults both decide this kind of thing is okay.

She was visibly pregnant but neither she nor her parent had any plan for the delivery or caring for the baby? Both ignored him for 2 days and then did this, of all things?

Poor little baby. He could have easily been adopted.

Rodney Staude is also charged with first-degree murder but his case remains on hold after he was ruled incompetent to stand trial in February of 2024.
