A statement from Sinmi's siblings who have flown in from the UK to join the search.

Dear Community,

We are reaching out in hope for your assistance in finding our beloved sister, Sinmi Abosede, who has been missing since the morning of July 30th.

Sinmi is not just a beloved daughter, wife and a devoted mother of four children (aged between 17 and 5); she is the heart of our family, a devout and philanthropic Christian, an affectionate friend and a dedicated employee who brings joy and love to everyone she meets.

Sinmi was last seen at approximately 9:20 a.m. on July 30 walking away from her home on the 2100 block of Sudbury Street in Naperville. She was heading out for what we believed to be a short walk and didn’t take her cell phone, credit cards or any other personal items except a white water bottle (as seen in the pictures shared by the police).

Sinmi is a black female with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5 foot 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. She was last seen wearing her prescription glasses, a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket with a white strip along the arms, grey sweatpants, a black/blue head scarf, and black Crocs. It is possible she may have taken her jacket and scarf off.

Her absence has created an immense void in our lives. Each day without her feels heavier, as we worry about her well-being and the distress she may be experiencing. We know she is strong, but we also acknowledge that she could be in need of help. We genuinely believe she is nearby, and with your eyes and ears, we can bring her home safely.

If you have seen Sinmi please call 9-1-1 immediately to report her location. Anyone with information regarding her disappearance, no matter how small it may seem, is asked to please call the Naperville Police Investigation’s Division at 630-548-1421.

We are incredibly grateful for any support you can provide in our search for Sinmi. Your help and prayers mean the world to us and could make all the difference in reuniting our family.
Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.

With hope,
Gbenga da Silva, Busola da Silva, Dupe da Silva on behalf of the family.

Seems like a logical destination - look like she was prepared for a walk and that looks like a nice walking trail.

LE doesn't suspect foul play - so do they know something?

I live in Chicago. There's been a LOT of searching, just not a lot of media coverage about it. Starting to see some updates on that though. Mom of 4 Went Missing a Week Ago. Nobody Has Found Her After Nearly 2,000-Acre Forest Search The fact that her family had nothing on the media (news or social) at ALL about her being missing to me meant the were aware of some circumstances of the disappeaerance we weren't and were communicating that to LE, but not the public. I understand that and respect their privacy, especially if it's (possibly) a mental health issue (she has 4 children).
Her family has now flown in from the UK. <mod snip by request> I hope more people are aware of Sinmi being missing. Keeping an eye out for vulnerable members of our community can be incredibly helpful for positive outcomes. It breaks my heart she has been missing for so long now without things she needs. If she is no longer with us, then I hope she is found so she can rest in peace. This is so sad.

Thanks. I'm glad they are here, her children naturally aren't providing information given their young ages and I don't know the status of her spouse/partner (she is co-owner of the house with another party with the same last name but that relationship detail has not been made public, for privacy)

I, too, had wondered about her marital status but then noted in @Unalienable Rights post above with the siblings’ message that they did include “wife” in their description of Sinmi (BBM):

Sinmi is not just a beloved daughter, wife and a devoted mother of four children (aged between 17 and 5)

Of course, spouse could be someone other than who she co-owns the house with, but is interesting piece of the puzzle either way.

The family statement says "She was heading out for what we believed to be a short walk"
snipped

It does appear her family thought she was going for a walk. She wasn't going on a hike or a run, but a short neighborhood walk, for those concerned about her choice of crocs.

I was surprised her husband said she had been missing for a few days. Yesterday (when the presser was), it had been nine days since she has been missing.

I wonder if he thinks she could be with someone?

I had to listen to it a couple of times but heard that as" the last few days had been trying for the family", as opposed to that being the length of time she was missing. He was pretty clear on the date though she left the house I didn't recognize his full name when I saw it on the mortgage with her, when I checked her public records, he uses a slightly shortened version (common, my granddaughters who are Hawaiian have very long Hawaiian names, but publically use a shortened version). Seeing the name in the interview, it clicked. He's a respected and successful businessman in the Chicago area, quite well educated. I am so hoping for a positive outcome to this, for both she and her family's sake.

That's fair. I'm letting my opinion creep in by thinking that if the walk is short then the water bottle isn't necessary and if the walk is long enough to warrant the water bottle then it's too long to wear Crocs. I concede your point.

Crocs are perfectly fine for a long walk. I wear them when we go to the zoo and we are there for hours. They are comfortable to walk in.

A body has been found in the Springbrook Forest Preserve about 50-60 yards from the trail. No identification has been made yet.

August 14, 2025

Nearly a week after a Naperville man made a public plea for help finding his missing wife, authorities have recovered a body near an area where she was last seen, police said.
