Jacob Michael Lavoie was last seen at Grandma’s Sports Garden in Canal Park on Saturday, Aug. 31 around midnight. Lavoie is described as standing 5 feet and 10 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. The 21-year-old has strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black Nike baseball hat, red/salmon long sleeve shirt and jeans.

I hope this not another case of a intoxicated young man who leaves a bar and then is found in a body of water. No mention if Jacob was with friends or how he got to the bar.

The water is ice and the currents are killers.

The restaurant is right next to the Lake. Lake Superior. The biggest fresh water lake in the world.

There is a beautiful boardwalk all along the Lake there.

Did he drive? How did he get there? Where was he going all alone?

I would think there are a lot of people down there. It is a super tourist area and it was Labor Day weekend.

His cell phone is off. His car is at his apartment. He was at the bar with friends.

That way is not by the water. There are so many restaurants down there that it is strange no one saw him

Search Continues For Missing Duluth Student Jacob Lavoie, 21

Authorities are asking for people in a highlighted area of the city to search their properties, vehicles, boats, and even look “anywhere a person could hide,” like abandoned buildings, stairwells and dumpsters to help in the search effort.

People who have surveillance cameras in the area are also asked to review footage taken on September 1 between midnight and 6 a.m.

The Duluth police, the Duluth Fire Department and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad are conducting searches, but are not looking for volunteers for searches at this time.

Instead, police are hoping for residents and businesses near downtown to search their properties for signs of Lavoie.

Lavoie is majoring in Business and Marketing, and was expected to graduate in the next year or two.

It was Pride weekend as well as Labor Day.

Duluth is a super popular tourist destination and the Canal area is where there are lots of restaurants and hotels.

I don't think he fell off the bridge. Maybe he opened a gate to one of the docks or walked between a gap in the fences MOO.

JMO-This type of accident in Canal Park is very rare for a college town with a lot of drunk students and tourists.
