I assume he will be given the customary credit for time served as well :(

Personally, I think he is ruined. at least reputation wise.

I think the government wanted the RICO and racketeering stuff so badly because then his assets are subject to permanent seizure.

Instead he will serve minimum, if any time, have some fines to pay which he can well afford, and he walks away back to his privileged lifestyle, still feeling above the law.

At least the world now knows about his little tootsie roll. Can't unring that bell ;) Nancy Grace discussing his tootsie roll will ever live rent free in my head.
IMO very little of the world cares about reputation anymore. Especially in this walk.

I'd be shocked if he gets anywhere close to 20 years

A flight risk and the counts he was convicted of involve interstate prostitution... Yea sounds like a great idea..NOT
I'm appalled at the verdicts but can't say I expected much. Celebrities always get away with so much.

Someone on CNN said that this might be this generation's OJ equivalent.
Not even close. There weren't murder charges. Casey Anthony is about as close as I can think of.

Wow, just seeing this.
I actually wonder about intimidation, this guy has a LOT of shady connections, and a LOT of funds.
Appalling.

@mattlavietes

Combs’ supporters are spraying baby oil on each other outside of the courthouse.

It seems the jury wasn't going to go further than characterizing it as victims were willingly participating in a rough/pushy/abusive orgy but for the betterment of their careers. I don't know really where I stand on this since I haven't paid much attention to the details.

I can see some of that line of thought, maybe, but am still surprised there weren't any serious charges given a guilty verdict.

that count was reportedly the one that jurors said they had a specific juror who they could not reach an agreement on a verdict for. At first I was thinking there was a lone holdout for not guilty on that charge. Now, based on the way the other charges were decided, I think they may have had one who wanted to vote guilty on that charge while the majority wanted to vote NOT.

Who knows, has anyone heard if the jury was polled?
I was not on this jury but I've been on juries in that court. I was polled after each verdict each time.

Yes, I believe that he has already written a rap song about his adventure in jail. He probably already has planned his coming home celebration freak off.

Of all the terrible and shocking things that have transpired in the US over the last 10 years, the blatant skew of the legal system in favour of the rich and famous is, in my opinion, the most egregious.
IMO, it is disgusting that guilty people often walk or receive a light sentence because they can afford top of the line legal representation. It's been going on a lot longer than 10 years.

It isn't just famous people. I worked with a guy who came from a wealthy family and he beat up his girlfriend with a tire iron to the point where she was seriously injured and hospitalized. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault but he got a good lawyer and managed to get a plea deal for simple assault. Simple assault like punching someone. He got a slap on the wrist and today he works a professional job, travels, etc. If he was poor, he probably would have gone to the big house.

BBM. I agree. MOO this sounds like the jurors thought this was what CV and Jane "traded" to help their careers. As a woman, I'm disgusted, and I hope CV and Jane will be safe from retribution for their very brave actions.

Exactly! When you think of all of the stuff he did, much of it wouldn’t have been possible without his money. This has been hidden for a long time and that too is because of his wealth. He pays people to be quiet. He pays them in a grandiose way. Giving someone a house, vehicle and all expenses paid for life is very enticing when the individual wouldn’t ever have the means to do it on their own. I’m sure he has paid for many things-college, debt, legal costs, medical, plastic surgery, etc.

In the end his money wins the day.

Judge: I've read the parties submissions and others. The jury convicted the defendant of Counts 3 and 5. For the following reasons, bail is denied.

Judge: Even if the defendant was solely required to show that he is not a danger to the community, he could not meet that burden. Prior to trial, the court denied bail, and sees no reason to reverse that now.

Judge: His violence is depicted in the video of Cassie Ventura. The defense admitted, This is a terrible moment, domestic violence is the issues, is what she said. It wasn't only that. There was the London Hotel incident.

Judge: There was violence after the searches in this case. As to Jane, there was June 2024 - after the searches of Combs' residences. This evidences a disregard for the law and a propensity for violence.

The Court take no position on what it will consider at sentencing, nor what sentence it will impose. But here, the burden is on him, and he cannot carry it. The defense argues the guideline starts at 21 months, the US says 51 months. He'd done 10 months

Judge: I set sentencing for Friday, October 3 at 10 am. I am willing to expedite it.Combs' Agnfilo: We would like it expedited.Judge; We will need an expedited pre-sentencing report from Probation. But I will be available any time.
