The original hearing was canceled so they could add charges of murder to him and cancel his bond which I believe is what's happening now.

That's what I understood.

So far:

• Everyone in the courtroom has to wear a mask per county order
• Defendant prefers the last name Henderson vs. Abston
• He cannot afford an attorney or bond
• Assigned a public defender
• State asked for no bond and judge acknowledged "additional charges are forthcoming"
• Judge said any request for bond cancellation that must be filed in writing as a motion before he'll consider
• Judge doesn't know if additional charges will be assigned to his courtroom because court clerks assign them randomly. Judge said he'd call clerk and ask that charges be assigned to him to combine to one case
• Judge told State no oral motions - everything must be in writing before he'd rule either way

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department (MPD) confirm the body found in South Memphis Monday evening is Eliza Fletcher, 34.

Suspect Cleotha Abston now faces additional charges of first-degree murder and first-degree murder in perpetration of kidnapping, MPD said.

Very sad outcome. Abston is a career lifetime violent offender and a threat to public safety. May he be prosecuted to the fullest and never see the light of day again. If ever there was a DP case it should be this one. From juvenile through his entire adulthood so far this man has been nothing but a menace to the public. My deepest sympathies to her family and prayers for her children.
