In light of the little bit we know now from the autopsy report, specifically the 'shot in the back', I found some of the information in this early article about the student killing, interesting:

What we know so far about the fatal shooting of UIW student Cameron Redus by campus police

"At a press conference on Monday, (Monday December 9, 2013 - 3 days after the shooting.) (Alamo Heights) Police Chief Richard Pruitt offered the most detailed account of what happened. He said Carter had gone to a nearby Whataburger around 2 a.m. to pick up food for himself and a colleague:"
"As the officer was returning to duty, driving north on Broadway near Hildebrand Avenue in his marked pickup, a tan Ford Ranger sped past in a construction zone in the rain, Pruitt said. Then Carter observed the Ranger hit a curb, causing it to swerve left into the opposite lanes, Pruitt said."
So, I looked at Wunderground historical record for Friday December 6, 2013 for San Antonio and found that there was between 1/100th and 6/100ths of an inch over the course of the entire day! To me, that's not rain.
From the article:
"Carters pickup truck had a dashboard camera, but it had become unglued from its mounting after a cold front blew through San Antonio. But Carter was wearing a body microphone, and police have reviewed an audio recording of what happened next:"
Again, with an assist from Wunderground historical records, it seems that on November 27, 28, and 29th there were recorded lows of 35, 33, and 34 degrees respectively. IF it was during that period of time that the dashboard camera became unglued because of a cold snap, that is still 5 days that it could have been repaired. It should be a requirement that all police vehicles carry "JB Weld" for just such circumstances. It just isn't that difficult to fix things like that.
On the night of December 5th, morning of December 6th, the dropped again but there is no indication that the camera came unglued just before the shooting.
Pruitt:
"At some point, Carter took out his collapsible baton to protect himself, Pruitt said.
Although there was a very stark difference between Carters size and the smaller student, Redus managed to take the baton away, pin the officer against a wall and hit him several times on the head and arm with the baton, Pruitt said. The rain and rocky landscaping might have made it hard for the officer to keep his footing, Pruitt said."
The physical size difference? Believable? The itty bitty rain again?
Pruitt:
"Carter managed to get the baton back, and the struggle continued until Redus broke free, according to police.
Drawing his .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol, Carter then warned Redus four times to stop or he would shoot, Pruitt said. Then, Carter told police, Redus charged him with his arm raised as if to hit him.
Carter fired his gun six times, hitting Redus five times at close range in the chest, neck, eye, arm and thigh officials said."
And, we now know:
"According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office, Redus was shot in the left eye, upper chest,
upper back, left elbow and right hip during a struggle with Cpl. Chris Carter during the early morning hours of Dec. 6."
"The report stated that the gunshot wound to the upper back is "the most immediately lethal" and the gunshot wound to the left eye "could be classified as fatal."" - From:

Those are some of the things that struck me. The mysanantonio article is a good article and worth rereading, in my opinion.
