SO....not to be the big dummy to point out the obvious.....but anyone else TOTALLY feeling creepy about all the "discovery" and "she's alive" talk we were hearing earlier....followed up by this whole unusual helicopter search stuff......or is this just coincidence??


ETA: Loooong awkward silence.....patiently waiting for some more news.....bout to have an adult beverage of the B.Light variety cause WTF...."it's five o'clock somewhere"....in fact, it's five o'clock here (just happens to be AM and not PM).....

No one would be sad to find out that Lindsey is alive. I think we have a sleepy poster who just went to bed.

If the helicopters are following roads, they may be looking for a robber or a speeder.

Or this could be helicopter training night.

It's a national guard chopper, I think.

ETA: I know it's an old article, but if they had the Guard out once before, it wouldn't surprise me if they had them out again.

Also, given how long it's been, there would be changes in any vegetation that was located atop a corpse, visible from the air. I won't go into these changes unless asked.

I'm about ready to Poco. There are trees that line the edges of that Hwy I believe, but then it breaks out into more bare land where Sand Creek Pond {lake} is. We do know there is a RSO who lives down there on the south side of the Hwy. We learned about him almost right away.

If they are looking for a body that may be buried, one of the best times to do it is after dark. Bodies themselves give off heat, easier to detect at night, especially while they are decomposing and vegetation growing above a buried body gives off more heat than the vegetation around it. So that could be what they are looking for, although I hope not.

I just always try to soften the blow when I have to say realistic, yet hurtful, things. I come off as cold sometimes, so I have my little disclaimers that I add.

That is very intersting info. I need to do some reading up on my biology...especially when it comes to plants. You're making total sense, but my mind is a little slow right now and I was hoping you could give me a quick refresher on the whole heat releasing thing. Is it safe to assume that plants with a higher rate of photosynthesis rate (based on higher nitrogen fixation???) give off more heat and thats the reason why this detection is possible? Sorry, I know I sound like a dummy but it's been a while since I've studied up....

A BIT GRUESOME TO READ: WARNING

Yes you are right Not my kids, 4 - 10 days after death is when the body bloats up and fills with gasses. Then the next stage is when the body starts to dry out and the gasses and fluids are released, or SS to that. That means it would probably be visable with infared. They must have had a tip, right? A reason to look there along the Hwy? xox

Ok, went outside to see if I could hear, see or smell anything. It's a clear night, the moon is out and the stars are shining. No sirens, no more helicopter and I can't smell any smoke. Can't say if it was a NG heli or not, couldn't see it well enough. Gonna hit the hay, wish I had more to report, but that's it.

From my very worn copy of Forensics for Dummies:

"Turning the soil during the digging process changes the soil conditions...as does the presence of a body. These (changes) attract plant species that differ from those around the gravesite. Similarly, plants that are typical for a given area may be more abundant or grow thicker (which produces more heat) and richer because of changes in the soil condition. This kind of change may be visible, particularly from the air."

I'd advise staying inside - locked inside - when there are helicopters flying that close and low, especially in the middle of the night. It happens around here quite often, and it's usually LE looking for somebody. Somebody criminal. A friend of mine actually had some guy try her front door, yelling "Let me in! Let me in!" Scared her to death. They caught him a few blocks away.

Err on the side of caution. We can wait.

This has probably already been mentioned but I find this to be an odd cause for a ten year old girl. It is also out of character from what I can see, the vast majority of her other causes are animals, the avatar pic is her german shepherd....
